Popular Post SpacedX Posted 15 December 2024 Popular Post Posted 15 December 2024 The match day threads have become increasingly depressingly negative, vitriolic and humourless over the years but I swear to God, when he emerged from the tunnel yesterday the stunned reactions and horrified disbelief from us all was utterly hilarious. Absolute comedy gold and one of the most amusing things I can remember on this forum in a long. long while. I will cherish the memory for years. 2 12

Actually, you're right. The fact that we were asset-stripped, cash-strapped and then promoted with such a weakened squad is a direct result of Danny Ward getting us relegated in the first place. Seriously, I wonder what that number against would be if Danny had started every game. Shudder! Edited 15 December 2024 by murphy

Gamble92 Posted 15 December 2024 Posted 15 December 2024 How many goals have there been now where he's just hilariously scampering across his line while the opposition look as if they're doing some kind of training drill? They always look like mainly terrible defending and not his fault but it has to be because of him. They just shit themselves knowing he's behind them. I was going to make a panto joke then but I'm on a flixbus on the way back and I lack the humour at the moment.

However I’d be more worried about playing alongside Faes if I’m honest, than Ward.
foxinsocks Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 Danny ward master class. How was he give a four year fobtractbin 2021? This is a sacking offence

ian__marshall Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 Reckon Ward must be a modern day Ali Dia that mysteriously never got found out. How anyone in their right mind thinks that this bloke is a professional footballer is beyond me. There's hope for us all! His movement between the sticks for that 2nd goal on Saturday is laughable. Like watching my mate in goal who can't play football whilst having a kick about down the park. Completely follows the movement of the ball rather than anticipating where the ball is likely to end up so he can fill the goal and make the save. Weird thing is, as much as I dislike him as a footballer, when you hear him speak he sounds like a really decent guy and a likeable bloke. Can only imagine that's why he's got as far as he has in his career, especially in an industry that is generally full of complete *****.
Mickyblueeyes Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 This signing at the time was weird. £12m based on one season in the championship. I’m sure we bought him as there was a bit of noise around Kasper at the time. The season that Huddersfield got promoted, they did so on a negative goal difference and suffered a number of heavy defeats. Might have been down to style but also makes the signing weird given we were potentially replacing our star keeper with someone who had only impressed in a play off penalty shoot out. 3

Yup, worth highlighting that comment. We should all never confuse being rubbish at football with being a nice guy. That's why, even tho I slaughter the guy on here, never resort to personal insults. From what little I've heard of him speak, I agree, he comes across as a really decent fella.

It's not like us just being in League 2 and having a bad keeper and we are where we are, but to start this guy knowingly at this level when there are ANY other options is criminal. There's more logic playing a lad from the academy for experience, who I'd happily applaud off. Even if he is a bit out of his depth and just conceded a load of goals. 2
lcfcsnow Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 So Ruud spoke to Maresca before joining who never played him, and the only coach he's brought with him is a goalkeeping coach. Big red flag if he just goes along with picking Ward, show some authority and make a decision. 1
Fox92 Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 Can't believe when he emerged some people near me were chanting his name. I haven't got it in me to ever sing it. His performances two years ago were a massive part of us getting relegated. 2

Yup, on the face of it my comment seems absurd and childish. But it's deeper than Ward . Firstly we'll lose with him in goal. And probably heavily. But the real point is two fold. 1. To painfully watch a new coaching set up learn what we as amateurs already know. I don't want to watch Ruud learning on the job. He's paid to know more than us armchair pundits. No matter how little time he's been here. 2. That the club is in such a mess and so badly run that the lad is even still here. We all had to watch an agonising 26 games where his selection alone got us relegated ....I just cannot accept that he's still here two years later doing the same. The Top / Whelan / Rudkin axis is as bad as is possible to be. I just can't support such a visible symbol of their incompetence. 7
Wymsey Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 Hope he's not the sort of employee who is only there because of his nice personality etc; despite being an often poor performer.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 December 2024 Posted 16 December 2024 How many teams are playing their 3rd choice keeper? Most teams' fans would be worried if they were down to their 3rd choice keeper. Getting on his back isn't going through help. A chorus of "Wales no. 1" before the game surely can't hurt. Or would you rather Conrad Logan?
