You could argue that Justin was at fault for the goal more than Ward was. Also that he was unlucky when the third hit the post and went in. What you can’t argue with though is that the fan base has had it with Ward. Getting loudly booed by the fans and ironic cheers for making basic saves should spell the end of his team involvement.

I can accept if people think Justin was at fault more but from that position Ward should still save it. Third one was hit straight at him from an angle ffs.

A capable goalkeeper saves both of those goals.

Picking Danny Ward as your hill to die on is a weird one Ruud

Might as well sack him now if he’s that shit he can’t see it.

And the first goal. Didn't even move for it.

He bloody knows. Lets stop with all this. Hopefully Jakub is a very short way away from being match fit and Mads will be back after christmas. Ward will hopefully not have to feature on the team sheet again.

RVN’s actual quotes from The Guardian match report -

Van Nistelrooy said of Ward’s treatment: “We all understand disappointment from the crowd, but it should not all go to one player. Booing or being disappointed with the result, I think it’s a right of a supporter, of a fan, to show your emotions, and we all do that, but when it really goes to one person that is something that is hard to see for me personally. I think he kept his composure very well; it is not easy when something happens like that. I think he handled it very well. It must be difficult for him. Hopefully he can turn things around quickly.”

He's never going to respond to questions about Ward by saying "the useless **** deserved it', always going to stick up for him.

Don't see how he can pick Ward again, just for Wards benefit if nothing else.

We will get beat with Gordon Banks in goal at Liverpool, but Ward will get blamed for it if he plays.

He knows but here we are, having put in arguably our most pathetic display in a generation with Danny Ward in goal. Iverson came in for him when we got relegated and everyone agreed we would have stayed up with him in goal, and he was benched for him,

Inexcusable.

He's only got one eye and he'd still be better than Danny Fraud.

In addition to the goals, there was a bad one at 0-0 where the ball went over the top and the Wolves attacker beat our defender, but miscontrolled it.

Ward, not communicating with his defence, had rushed out and would have been in no man's land, if the attacker had been able to control it.  He got away with one.

Do we? The performances were as bad with Iversen and we didn't stop shipping goals (remember that Fulham game when he was dross). Both Iversen and Ward can't perform at this level.  Heck - we don't even know if Iversen is remotely match fit at the moment.  It's not Ruud's fault that he has lost our no 1 and 2 keeper to injury. I agree that i would rather have seen Iversen playing today, but there must be a reason why he hasn't featured at all, even in the Carabou cup, so i am going to have to just say something is going on there and Ruud had just had to lump it.

Ward should be nowhere near the squad again, and they need to get rid of Iversen.

My big, big fear is that Mads gets sold in the January window.

Cool story.

Sorry for expecting atleast the bare minimal basics for supposed Premier League footballers.

I expect that too. So don’t get it twisted.

I agree and that is why Mads is so important to us. I think either of Stolarczyk or Iversen could have done better.
