I'm entering the season ticket ballot and I'll go to a fair few away games.

Yeah, we're shit, yeah it's expensive, but I just can't stop.

I was going to say I guess its better than heroin addiction, but I'm not so sure lol

Does the mortality rate comparison include the football making me feel dead inside?

Roma after offering tickets for as low as 10 euros for the semi-final have just made all of their allocation to Tirana free

You can watch Serie A title chasers AC Milan at the San Siro for 5 euros!!!!!

Dead atmosphere, crap football, unbearably loud music, no standing areas, non-stop cheap clapper noise, and high ticket prices.

Only football could mug us all off this much.

It’s the lack of effort that is bothering fans. The players can claim they are trying their upmost but deep down they know they are already counting down the days till they can go off on their vastly expensive holidays.

As others have alluded to it was actually more fun watching some of the shit we’ve seen in the past from players who weren’t the best, but were always full blooded and put everything into a 90 minute performance.

The club need to do something about it because we aren’t a massive club and if the fan base become disillusioned, its not like we have thousands of fans queuing ready to replace the match going fans if they start to become uninterested. That stadium expansion isn’t needed if we carry on with seasons such as this one we’ve had to endure.

I thought UEFA were giving each finalist 3.5K tickets free for "the most loyal fans", we would have got the same. Travel and hotels still a considerable cost, I read that they are also paying for the travel and accommodation for the 180 odd fans that made the trip to Bodo for the away game.

When you have 60K tickets to shift then you can offer tickets for €10, check the main parts of the ground, the tickets were certainly not €10!

Their biggest game in years, they had no trouble selling out!

Yeah Roma have agreed to take the cost to the rest of the allocation. Both curves were 10 euros so that's a good 35% at least. It's worth mentioning they have to pay rent on the stadium, so considering the demand (their website had over 150k trying to get tickets at one point), it's a decent hit on profits they've made there.

in a way going to the football is just gambling. You pay the £60 for the hope of a great day but there’s every chance you paid for a miserable time.

A very wise investment I'd say, that extremely vocal and aggressive crowd got them over the line.

I've never experienced anything like it.

Ha yes. If you go and see your favourite band or see a show about something you like you almost guaranteed a good time. Watching football is so much a gamble with your emotions. Often only afterwards can you say That was worth it. During the match agony  unless you are 4 up with 2 minutes to go.

I am happy with my season tickets, but they are cheap (family stand). I missed the Everton game (my boys were having a meltdown yesterday morning, and with SATS this week, I didn't want the extra stress) and will miss Wednesday's game (wife's birthday), but those and West Ham were the only ones I skipped. It's a good day out, I enjoy watching football, and it's a way to do things as a family (we often get a meal before/after the game), even if the eldest reads a book during the game (doesn't like football unless we score more than three goals.)

Going to to football is overpriced. Its unquestionably over priced. But it can be because

1) inelasticity of the product. Everyone moans yet everyone is so loyal to the club they will still turn up buy the tickets and merchandise anyway even if prices go up because they are capitalising on your blind loyalty

2) supply and demand. If you dont pay someone else will so theres no sense of loyalty towards you willing to pay less and from a business perspective why would there be?

3) its an activity that fits into a small amount of time and requires no skill hence its a popular pastime for many in society to partake in which also doubles as a main group activity for a lot of people.

Bet your eldest has read War and Peace then?

Away days with your mates aren't cheap but are worth it in memories.

Home games I have no interest in anymore at the KP.

£100?

What's the breakdown here (presuming it's just you, not family).

Appreciate if that includes travel.

Any of the stuff spent at the ground need not be - food, drink etc. Bring your own to save costs!

It would cost me about that to travel from Weymouth

The only games I look forward to now are the away ones and they’re not because of the football.

Same. And that's where they've got me tied in, because I have 495 points I don't wanna lose. So a ST renewal is inevitable.

No, it's good value for money and i shall tell you why; the cinema is 20quid a go and you're not really allowed to shout.

We won the FA cup. To go and see a team that has won a cup or a league title in the last 20 years costs £50 or more.

A 3 minute cameo birthday message from Arsenal's Kanu costs £40.(heartfelt)

So if we're using Kanu as a benchmark £30 to watch us, that's less than Kanu but sometimes less heartfelt.

Respect. You get Respect (and clappers) for time served going the KP, you don't get any respect for going the cinema regularly in fact if you talk about it at all that's spoilers and no one likes that, no one even likes people saying "no spoilers" which is something you never hear at the king power stadium.

So in conclusion you can probably get a poor to satisfactory blozza for under 30quid but it won't be heartfelt and you won't get any respect for doing it regularly unless you've got terrible friends.

Just like the poster above says not sure what you mean at all but £20 to go to the cinema?!!!?!?£

I saw that new Harry Potter in Piccadilly Circus on Saturday night for a fiver. Which is about fair given I can stream it for free at home

Was a season ticket holder of 12 years prior to the pandemic - gave my ST up just as that was beginning.

Went down for the first time in 3 years(ish) on Saturday against Everton and just found the whole experience to be very dry.

Maybe it's partly me and I'm less bothered about football these days, happy to watch on stream and shrug it off after the 90 BUT it was so sterile down there.

Atmosphere flat, match-day experience just... flat - football was negative and flat.

I can certainly see why those paying £300-500 plus for a season ticket and then the expense of getting there, etc. are starting to fall out of love with it.

I won't be rushing back any time soon.

I've been to a fair few games this season but yeah Saturday was a strange one, felt like everyone, players, fans etc. were all deflated and lacked any real energy.

I usually hate the season ending but I kind of welcome it at the minute. I think we all need a break from it for a while until the inevitable new season, new transfer excitement starts again.

An important couple of years for football as a whole with the cost of living crisis - I feel like there's a real danger football could alienate itself more than usual with the big boys continuing to make large signings year on year (Haaland etc.), the changes to the CL basically becoming a watered down version of the super league, rising ticket prices and multiple tv subscription requirements. If not careful they could end up driving more and more people away.

You're using an incredibly skewed example as your basis point. The season is over and we have nothing to play for, what did you expect on Sunday. If you'd have chosen Man U or Liverpool at home as your great return game you would have been raving
