Tielemans63 Posted 22 May Posted 22 May (edited) Spence Burn Henderson Toney ....all honking picks, IMHO. I can't understand any of those selections. To a lesser extent, Quansah and Mainoo are strange picks too imho, on the basis that there are more experienced and arguably better CBs than JQ, and Wharton is a better player than Mainoo in my humble opinion. I'm not really seeing what the fuss is about with Noni Madueke either, if I'm honest. Other than that, great squad! Edited 22 May by Tielemans63 1

I wasn't guaranteed tickets so bowed out at the start, and looking at the shambles of the ticket buying process I'm glad I did.
Jaspa Posted 22 May Posted 22 May Toney has fantastic stats this season, know it's in Saudi but alot of players this WC are playing Club football there. 32 goals, 32 games, 7 assists. Big physical presence, links up play, finishes, been playing in a desert country for 2 years so should be better acclimatised than most. Was looking through it then and found out who Mexico have as a striker, also in the Saudi League, top scorer there, Columbian born. Interesting. 2

Blue.Fox84 Posted 22 May Posted 22 May Initial reaction to England squad was a bit of shock, as time goes on I feel there is a bit of logic to it and could give us the required depth and versatility 🤔 2

whoareyaaa Posted 23 May Posted 23 May Not a bad squad really the only ones who I would have took are Trent, Palmer and MGW. Toney could fair well in the hoter climate and is a good addition. Maquire can feel hard done by I guess but he is hardly a great defender, good for set pieces though I probably would of took him.
spacemunky Posted 24 May Posted 24 May A year or so ago who'd have figured there would be no Foden, Palmer or Trent. And that Rashford and Henderson would be in. Could be worse, could be Italy.

Looking at that team that never got called up really drives home the kind of talent England have. I mean, outwith maybe two or three, every one of them gets in the Scotland team without a second thought.
Wymsey Posted 25 May Posted 25 May Would be a bit surprised if Brazil or Argentina don't make the final, given their cultural presence in humid environments.
