....all honking picks, IMHO. I can't understand any of those selections. 

 

To a lesser extent, Quansah and Mainoo are strange picks too imho, on the basis that there are more experienced and arguably better CBs than JQ, and Wharton is a better player than Mainoo in my humble opinion. I'm not really seeing what the fuss is about with Noni Madueke either, if I'm honest.

 

Other than that, great squad!

4 mates going because they were guaranteed tickets so could book accommodation flights etc early.

Toney has fantastic stats this season, know it's in Saudi but alot of players this WC are playing Club football there. 32 goals, 32 games, 7 assists. Big physical presence, links up play, finishes, been playing in a desert country for 2 years so should be better acclimatised than most.

 

Was looking through it then and found out who Mexico have as a striker, also in the Saudi League, top scorer there, Columbian born. Interesting.

Not a bad squad really the only ones who I would have took are Trent, Palmer and MGW.

 

Toney could fair well in the hoter climate and is a good addition.

 

Maquire can feel hard done by I guess but he is hardly a great defender, good for set pieces though I probably would of took him.
