happy85 Posted 19 June 2022 Posted 19 June 2022 Wolves and Leicester in two-way war for Burnley star Nathan Collins – with official bids expected this week https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/18938089/wolves-leicester-transfer-war-nathan-collins-burnley/ 2
UniFox21 Posted 19 June 2022 Posted 19 June 2022 Young player to complement our experienced ones. Not exactly a bad idea 2
AKCJ Posted 19 June 2022 Posted 19 June 2022 Yes from me. Should have got him when we he left Stoke. I'm sure we were linked then as well. 3

South Shire Fox Posted 19 June 2022 Posted 19 June 2022 Rather Ben Mee if we’re going for a Burnley CB personally. 1 3

Nick Posted 19 June 2022 Posted 19 June 2022 WHen he was linked with Leeds Burnley were reported to be asking £25 million for him which is over double what they paid... wonder what the real price tag is?
lcfc_forever Posted 19 June 2022 Posted 19 June 2022 Good in the air and will improve defending set pieces. Bit concerned about his mental strength in high pressure match situations after what happened on the final day vs Leeds. It’s a general problem we have - (e.g, Soy and Kasper vs Bournemouth and Spurs in CL run-ins), Soumare struggling with the PL etc., so hopefully the club have done their research this time. 1

Popular Post EnderbyFox Posted 19 June 2022 Popular Post Posted 19 June 2022 A NEW NAME To be fair I think I'd take Phil Collins at this stage, just being linked with someone is nice 1 6

-sodapop Posted 19 June 2022 Posted 19 June 2022 (edited) I really like the look of him. Captained Stoke a couple of times as a teenager, so I can see him developing into a leader at the back. Here's a quote from the Athletic article about him after he joined Burnley Quote He scores highly in arguably the most important, defensive impact (74). This is based on how well he stops the opposition from progressing the ball through interceptions and cutting off passing lanes. He may not have been required to do a lot of defending but when he does, he does it successfully. It is likely that those defensive numbers will rise due to the amount of defending that is required at Burnley in the Premier League. Key to being successful at that is positioning, because Burnley want to force their opponents to cross the ball from wide areas, backing themselves to clear it away. His coaches at Stoke rated his ability to read the game highly — that suits Dyche, who drills distances into his back four during training, and Collins is comfortable defending his own six-yard box from crosses aerially… …and along the floor. His aerial duel quantity is low (15/99), whereas Tarkowski and Mee regularly finish high in that category every season. Collins, at 6ft 4in, is suited for the role, and his rating of 62/99 in aerial duels in open play proves he is solid in the air. When he played at right-back last season, his aerial duel quantity was much higher (68/99) and his aerial dominance shone through, scoring 91/99 in aerial duels. Consistently, he is aggressive when attacking the ball. That transfers to Stoke’s attacking set pieces. Collins does not score many goals but, as shown below against Coventry City, he provides an attacking threat. I don't believe in any one player being the solution to a team's woes, but certainly a lot of the things he's being lauded for (sticking a foot in, getting his head to the ball, set pieces) are things we really lack. Hope we can get it across the line. Edited 19 June 2022 by -sodapop

I mentioned Mee on a free would be a decent signing and someone on here said that Mee’s not good enough on the ball ….. well what I seen of this guy last season, he was utterly useless with the ball at his feet. Misplaced passes, running into dead ends and losing it in dangerous areas, he looked bloody awful from what I seen of him last season! 2
ALC Fox Posted 19 June 2022 Posted 19 June 2022 The feeling I get from a few people is this may be a little underwhelming, but I reckon he's one who could be going through a real leap in his development. He's started to settle at Burnley and has already been a success at Championship level. He's also still really young, especially for a CB. I'm not getting carried away. Is he another Fofana? I very much doubt it. Could he become good enough to be with us for his best years while we continue to strive for success? Yeah, maybe. 2
Phenom Posted 19 June 2022 Posted 19 June 2022 Just turned 21 and had some decent stats. What’s the asking price?

You can never be sure with Burnley defenders what will happen when they’re on a side that plays football, but I like what I see with Collins and he’s an impressive player for his age.

Evans had 2 or 3 years of Pulisball before us and he turned out fine. Even if he's not the finished article, he'll have good experience from being coached defensively by Gravel Throat as well as playing around Tarkowski and Mee.

I think he would prove to be a very good signing for us. Hope we get this over the line.
Guest Chocolate Teapot Posted 20 June 2022 Posted 20 June 2022 Hes certainly a defender but is he a good enough footballer or quick enough to play in our backline?
foxfanazer Posted 20 June 2022 Posted 20 June 2022 I have visions of us fleecing United in 3 years with this guy. Gerrimin!
