25 Man Squad for 2022/23

Basically we are looking fantastic at ST and full back, good set of keepers, but there are issues in every other position and we’ve signed or sold nobody in an effort to alleviate those issues.

There is an argument that having several of our best players back to full fitness with a pre season behind them is like having several top class new signings after last season's injury crisis. But standing still in the PL, even with a good squad, tends to end badly eg the last season of Poch at Spurs. Things just seem to get stale without some fresh faces and voices in the squad.

Take Barnes out and we've got the worst wingers in the Championship, let alone the PL.

Has anyone had a go at putting a 25 squad together at this stage, knowing what we know now? Kasper gone, no Lookman.. 
 

Wonder if we will rely on Young as 3rd choice keeper and use kaspers slot to get a new winger?

If we sell 1 reserve CB and 1 of those mids and replace them with a new 1st team standard CB and RW, that it’s not looking THAT bad. That’s the bare minimum we should do imo, anything else is a bonus. Next year will be major overhaul.

Agree it’s just a bit unbalanced. I was expecting to see lots of excess players we needed to shift, but in truth we only have 25 senior players now, better than last season…

With their injuries there is no need to add Ricardo or Bertrand to the squad. They won’t play before December, so this frees up two more spots. Possibly Brunt and Wright if they don’t go out on loan.

We have lost Lookman, Fofana and Choudhury from last season's squad.

What on earth have they named Bertrand for? I know it's highly unlikely we would sign a free agent but surely it was worth leaving a space free should we urgently need to. Likewise had Soyuncu or Vestergaard gone to Turkey or Greece in the last week then we'd have had no ability to sign Denayer, Zagadou etc and name them.

Including Bertrand must mean that he could return pre Jan - although the reality is that it’s pre World Cup !
