I’m watching it with my mrs as she watches mens football with me so least I can do

Well some people act as if it is going to replace the mens game and it will be the only football they can watch lol it will co-exist and the standard is improving. England have been brilliant in that first half

They are alright that’s insane thing, Hegerberg is arguably the best in the world or near enough, Hansen & Engen are from the great Barcelona team, Reiten, Mjelde, Thorisdottir, Blakstad from top WSL clubs…we’re just ripping them apart, it’s mad!

It's entertaining even with the one-sided scoreline, though. There was a point when we were 2-0 up that Norway threatened to come back into it but since then we've just blown them away. Incredible stuff.

Do they use the same size goals? As surely the women are a lot smaller so that’s not exactly fair is it

Remember when Nige got the officials to measure the goalposts at Swansea away that one time

I’m not trying to back-peddle one bit.

Having had sky sports news on a hell of a lot today, I can say that comfortably it’s been fed to us, yes I get it’s a major tournament but it’s seemed so desperate.

So because I said this is an awful standard of football that’s being derogatory? Come on, have a day off. That’s just ridiculous. Would you say the same if I said about the mens game? A question I’ve asked you three times now, which you’ve failed to answer. People bang on about wanting equality, yet these same people (read the thread) are saying you can’t compare the mens and womens game?

See you at the England woman’s cricket next week at Grace Road

It is a big tournament being played in England, with an England team capable of winning, so I wouldn’t expect less to be honest.

Considering how England's chances could be quite high of winning it, what else would you expect in the lead up to the tournament?

Only 2 goals in the 2nd half...

Rubbish!

What an impressive performance though - early goals helped but Norway were totally outclassed and shell shocked and we kept on going too.

Wow, Wow, Wow! now that's what I'm talking about, hunger, desire, passion that's what I want from my national side. Even at 8-0! they wanted more. Hope the England men are taking note. Our tournament has finally began.

What I like about the England womens side there all hard working, family orientated, good speakers and professional. The more I watch womens football the more I feel we're mugged off by the men's game. These gals would do anything to put a three lions shirt on, while the men it's all about buying fast cars, bragging about their wealth, misbehaving, nightclubbing and demanding higher wages and transfers when not getting their own way.

The men still made a semi final and final in the last two major tournaments… should we bring doling more maybe, but I feel that is a harsh assessment none-the-less

We did very well in both, but didn't show up in the nations league. For me the attitude and hunger still needs to be worked on.

Nations league is for trying things out, I’m not too worried yet, we didn’t do well in the nationals league before taking the final to penalties. However I doubt Southgate is a tournament winning manager, he deserves this World Cup though and let’s see what we do.

Re comparisons being made ...

I suppose a problem will always occur, where you nominally have a situation that lends itself for comparison ... whether this was intentional or not.

So you might say "I prefer women's football, because it doesn't have all the play-acting and cheating of the men's game".  Many people would agree with that sentiment.

But if you were to say "I think women's football is total dross to watch", then you'll probably be accused of sexist stereotyping.  Which might be a bit harsh, as the previous statement is effectively doing the same ... albeit the other way round.

btw: I think England's penalty yesterday was pretty "soft".   Under different circumstances, I would've called it a dive!

Think the media are far worse at comparing mens and womens football than the fans, particularly when they are so selective with the comparisons.

Whats wrong with appreciating both for what they both are?

Agreed - said elsewhere here women's football has a real opportunity to avoid the downfalls of the mens side of the game. Sadly the WSL and CL suggests they are happy for arms race to be led by the richest clubs. They should look to make themselves unique as best they can and standalone as best they can; introduce the fairness of salary caps (Ala the best female football league in the world), avoid going down the path of over tribalism and keep the respect from players/coaches to officials high.

Unpopular opinion but I prefer stadium MK to our ground.

I think most would agree that we have a really boring looking ground.
