Some nous, know-how and presence. Forward line can't be just pace, pace, pace, because it's not effective when teams drop deep. Nothing wrong with a target man acting as a pivot as long as we actually play into his feet and get him to hold the ball up, rather than lumping it to his head. ...that is where Nacho needs to improve on and bring more consistency to his game!!! I think that is where Rodgers sees the problem and cannot see in any way that it will ever improve. Nacho can look an absolute stellar forward when on his game but too often the first touch lets him down, and he fails to hold on to the ball long enough for the support to get there and to help relieve the pressure on our backline. 1

Countless times when we struggle in games, we bring Albrighton on whose lumping in crosses to a 5ft nothing striker whose coming up against 2 6ft something defenders. Be nice to finally have another dimension to our game. If Slimani has taught us anything it's that we're destined to sign Dzeko and end up literally subbing him off at the same time as bringing Albrighton on or visa versa and then wondering why he never scores. Yeah that’s true 🤣
walkerleeds Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Roma away is a prime example of where someone like him would be ideal. 4
tylesta Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 We would sign him bring him on with 10 minutes to go while trailing 1.0 to bottom of the league and pass it round the back four for the last 10 like always 1 1

It's not as if we're above one because teams can't live with our fast possession football and we can't lower our self to such neolithic ways. Rodgers "I'm not going to sign a lamppost" comment was really emblematic tbh. It's try it his way forever even if it doesn't work. This is way down the list of our priorities so I can't see it but if we'd had a Dzeko or Mandzukic type last season I think we probably finish 7th because we covert a couple of draws into wins and a few losses into draws. Absolutely nothing to back this up.
fox_up_north Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Think Dzeko was the first to get a goal awarded due to goal line technology

Dan Posted 15 July 2022 Posted 15 July 2022 Wouldn't be a bad option for a year at all. You aren't tied down to a long term deal and he's objectively still very good. 17 goals and 10 assists last season for Inter. Scored goals wherever he's gone. Frankly a very underrated player. Experienced winner. There are other more pressing matters in the squad and given we need players out it's a bit of a non-starter but I'm surprised at some of the negativity about him. He's a good player and still got something to give.

This was my first thought. Dzeko is actually better on the floor than people give him credit for. He’s a capable forward but I’m not sure he’s the player we need. 1

Bptiger Posted 15 July 2022 Posted 15 July 2022 I watched a lot of him playing laying last season, he has one thing are other forwards don’t have ( not including vardy ) great ball control holes the play up and is excellent in the air , he would be a BIG ASSET for us . 2
wokinghamfox Posted 15 July 2022 Posted 15 July 2022 I remember when he came to the KP in 2014 for a league cup quarter final with Man C. Was on another level and scared me half to death but now can't see the point now

mozartfox Posted 15 July 2022 Posted 15 July 2022 Another generous Pension Top up from LCFC. Peter Crouch would be cheaper. This window is getting worse by the day. Are the recruitment Team back from their hols??? 1
Dan Posted 15 July 2022 Posted 15 July 2022 That is a good profile. It's a non starter given the other priorities but he's so much better than people think. People are acting like it's Andy Carroll.
