whoareyaaa Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Just what we need I always liked him probably past it now though good bench option 2
lcfc sheff Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 If we’re selling Kel he’d be a nice cheap ish option if aren’t going for any other striker and presumably using the money elsewhere
Flannel_Fox Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Can't see it unless one of our current strikers goes. But then you have the potential problem of both him and Vardy leaving at the same time. Won't happen IMO
Popular Post Finnegan Posted 14 July 2022 Popular Post Posted 14 July 2022 This would make all of the We NeEd A pLaN b knuckle draggers happy that aren't content unless we have the option of lumping it at some seven foot tower. 3 8
AjcW Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Excellent, we need a Plan B option of lumping it at some seven foot tower with ten minutes to go... 1 3

I used to laugh at the idea but a veteran target man would give us an edge we lack at the minute. It's not as if we're above one because teams can't live with our fast possession football and we can't lower our self to such neolithic ways. Rodgers "I'm not going to sign a lamppost" comment was really emblematic tbh. It's try it his way forever even if it doesn't work. This is way down the list of our priorities so I can't see it but if we'd had a Dzeko or Mandzukic type last season I think we probably finish 7th because we covert a couple of draws into wins and a few losses into draws. 8
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Be a good addition for when we concede a corner 1
RowlattsFox Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Literally the only position we probably don't need anyone 1

Not only that, I can't think of a single player in the starting 11 who is a great crosser of the ball - maybe Maddison, but that's it really. Get Albrighton swinging his crosses into the box, dzeko is bound to get a few chances, be a gd last 10-15 minute option if we are losing/drawing haha Edited 14 July 2022 by Shamomoa

It's unlikely we'll sign one because of our current constraints, I'm not advocating that we do particularly because we have more pressing concerns. It's more about having a different option than a target man being better than our current options. Daka and Vardy are similar players for obvious reasons, Iheanacho is our forward that can play with his back to goal and he's far from a target man. Dyzuba, Costa, Cavani, Belotti, Jorgensen, Pelle & Caroll are all free agants at the minute - some of them aren't great and some are unrealistic but with 9 subs having a different dynamic would only be a positive. If we didn't have so much deadwood on bloated wages we could afford to have grizzled veteran target man.

RoboFox Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 (edited) I'd forgotten he existed. Seems like he's been around for much longer than physically possible, but hey... He's only 36 and his goalscoring record is really decent in the Serie A. Can't see anything in this, mind. His wages would surely be absurd. Edited 14 July 2022 by RoboFox

Fox92 Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Dzeko and Vardy. Return of the big man little man. 36 years old and 35 years old.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 If he can be brought in on acceptable wages - which is a huge old if - I'd be all for this. Some nous, know-how and presence. Forward line can't be just pace, pace, pace, because it's not effective when teams drop deep. Nothing wrong with a target man acting as a pivot as long as we actually play into his feet and get him to hold the ball up, rather than lumping it to his head. 2
filbertway Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 As a team that generally plays 1 up top and already has one player in his mid 30s and 2 other rated strikers, it makes perfect sense to be looking to sign another player that will take a squad place and an easy salary while he trains at seagrave for a season or two.

Ian Nacho Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Wouldn’t be totally against this. Too many transfers these days are football manager ones were you don’t buy anyone above the age of 30.

To be fair, he is exactly what we need. Countless times when we struggle in games, we bring Albrighton on whose lumping in crosses to a 5ft nothing striker whose coming up against 2 6ft something defenders. Be nice to finally have another dimension to our game. 3
Bayfox Posted 14 July 2022 Posted 14 July 2022 Too tall to play up front for Brendan. Close thread. 1
