Think I'd be happy for him to go if it means we improve the squad overall. Think the "Leicester lad" bias is strong in this one and people generally overate his performances. Certainly one of those that is not strong in the air and his positioning has cost us at times.

Sell him, we've got Ryan Bertrand.

I'd love Kostic here FYI, rate him higher than Gosens as that sort of left wing back, left midfield role.

Add Luke to the list , so up for sale are Amartey, Soyuncu, Choudery, Bertrand, Thomas Vestergaard and Castagne. Expected replacements - er none. Defending is for pussies.

I just don't see someone paying the fee we would want.

If Nico Williams is worth 17m, we are going to want that and more for Thomas.

I agree but I can’t see anyone paying that much for Thomas he’s bang average and he don’t even get in West Ham’s side imo

i think we are a bit Del Boy and Rodney right now. Everyone and everything has its price.

....he has certainly not developed as well as we all would have hoped!!!

The longer he has been at the club the more he seemed to have regressed. Rodgers has looked at his squad and has stated that there are players who may believe that they have won a trophy, and now have reached the pinnacle of their career, and he needs to find players with a better mentality. Thomas does not for me fall into this category, but he is not kicking on, as shown by your comments.

I would rather he goes out on loan and comes back with a different perspective on the game because, for some reason, our coaches do not seem to be able to bring these players through and build on their talents. We seem to see a player and attempt to adapt a profile for them, as opposed to building on what they naturally bring to the table.

He's a decent player but has a real lack of pace which is always going to hold him back.

If we could replace him with Levi Colwill I'd definitely let him go.

...he has played LB six times in his career!!!

He has played CB Sixty-six times.

Anything above 10m and I’d snap your hand off - he is not good enough to compete with the other 3 we have and last season was a disaster for him considering how many defenders we had injured - he had a shocker - bar 1 game home to Liverpool

You do know he is incredibly young so will improve right?

Not guaranteed and we have little choice but to trust the club as to his current and likely future progression. Hope he stays and kicks on, but he has to kick on, and if he doesn’t his price may be worse next year. We need to return to recognising the sweet spot with sales.

We had all this with Chilwell too about not being good enough, sell him etc.

He has since gone on to be a shining light in a very good Chelsea team.  Perhaps we all just need a little patience with Luke.

We sold him at the sweet spot, you are just reinforcing my point surely?

Thomas hasn't looked anywhere close to the level Chilwell was.

Selling him would not help with the squad size issue, Thomas doesn’t take a place in the 25 man squad for the upcoming season

Realistically unless we are willing to take the risk of going into the season with Ricardo, Castagne, and Justin who have all had some bad injury issues the past couple of seasons he would still need to be replaced

Someone like Truffert would be fine as he wouldn’t take a place in the squad, but then it starts coming down to how much we would get for Thomas and how much would Truffert cost etc.

IF we go for someone born before 2001 then they would need to be registered in the squad

I'd be a no to selling him before he's had a loan.

I just think he's got the potential to really kick on somewhere where he can play every week. I would have to see us sell him for what he's worth now. One full year and I think he's got the chance to be knocking on Southgate's door given the relative lack of left backs.

100 % agree with this - not even close to Chilwell at that age- id argue Thomas went backwards last season when he should have thrived with the game time- Rodgers doesnt trust him one bit and he doesnt get anywhere near our 11- not even close

Not really no. For 3 seasons before Chilwell went, a lot of people had written him off as not being good enough and could not wait to see the back of him.

In reality, he was just young and was always going to get better.  The same thing will happen with Luke.  He has nowhere near reached his ceiling.  That is the point I was trying to make.
