justfoxes Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 Seems we’re interested in bringing Leno to replace Kasper, don’t know how reliable a source this is but Leno would be a decent replacement. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/07/27/report-premier-league-rivals-could-sign-arsenal-outcast-to-replace-130k-p-w-star/

foxfanazer Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 Shit distribution. Something Kasper is criticised for
goose2010 Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 on 100k a week at Arsenal so not sure it really helps our situation out.
moore_94 Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 (edited) The sooner Fulham get their deal sorted for him the better Edited 27 July 2022 by moore_94 3
Tielemans63 Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 (edited) I realise that fan forums are pretty negative at the best of times, however I've just been reading the Arsenal forums and they are overwhelmingly negative about Leno, don't think I read one positive comment. From what I've read, if your main gripe with Kasper was that he wasn't great with his feet then you'll be very disappointed with Leno, useless with his feet. They also seem to think we've left it too late as he's virtually already joined Fulham and wants to stay in London. Hoping we've missed out to be honest, he's always struck me as a massively overrated player Edited 27 July 2022 by Tielemans63 1
taupe Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 I don't see Leno happening. It'd be an expensive kicking of the can down the road. No, bite the bullet now. It looks like project refresh is not happening this season so we instead do some ground work. We're not ManU nor Chelsea, we can't buy our way forward on a whim - and seemingly particular not at the moment, our funds not looking fluid. 1
dbtcity Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 A bit like Kasper I don’t see leno being on what he’s currently on at his next club so I wouldn’t base signing him or not on his weekly wage, I personally think he’s a decent sweeper keeper, very quick off his line and like Kasper very good in 1v1 situations…. Unfortunately has similar downsides as Kasper when it comes to dealing with crosses and distribution
EnderbyFox Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 He's a very good shot stopper but is partial to an absolute brain fart. Distribution is shocking as well, pass. 1
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 I'd rather see Bernie Clifton between the sticks.
dobbylcfc Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 If we can get a deal done for Lafont instead I’d be more than happy. If we are all in for Leno I’d rather us start with Ward.
ronnup Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 (edited) Not a chance we spank all the Kasper wages on another keeper who can't kick the ball Edited 27 July 2022 by ronnup 1

ALC Fox Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 Probably not as bad as people think. Just didn't settle at Arsenal and once people get on your back it's difficult to shift the reputation. I think a clean break would be needed for him rather than another Premier League move. Plus I don't think he'd accept a drastic wage cut. It's a no from me. I'm much more excited about this Lafont chap. 2

Guest Lako42 Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 Pope went for £10m FFS Can't believe we've left such a critical position to this point in pre-season. ****ing shocking

Danny280995 Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 Lafont is the one for me, young, huge potential and a modern day keeper we need and wont cost to much, but knowing our club we won't do this 1
FoxesWalk Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 (edited) Now if we are bringing in Leno as an experienced backup and mentor to Iversen/Stolarcxyk or however you spell that then I’d maybe be okay with this Edited 27 July 2022 by FoxesWalk

A #2 keeper is very much a lame duck, he will not get the games to keep him sharp or end up in the leading role.
indierich06 Posted 27 July 2022 Posted 27 July 2022 No chance for me, purely because it defeats the entire object of moving Schmeichel on i.e. clearing some space in the wage bill to bring in additional players. This lad would surely want upwards of £100k a week. 1
