Only us. The worst set piece record in the division, probably the whole football league and here we are 3 days before the new season starts with our set piece coach not in the country and no idea who our number 1 will be after having a whole summer to work on them

Surely the silver lining on that is our set piece numbers can’t get any worse with either ward or iverson ?   The shot stopping might be an issue though !

....if there is one thing that I have noticed is how poor we are at heading the ball!!!

There may be about 4 people in the first eleven who can actually head the ball properly, the rest just try to get their head on the ball. When Rodgers stated that we have a set piece coach, this was obviously who he meant, it is just that he did not elaborate on the situation.

  It should be interesting to see how we progress down the line when we have time to implement his ideas. I always believed Rodgers needed to bring someone else in, preferably from abroad, I am glad that he has, let us hope it is not one of his mates.

Good to see it’s finally being addressed but don’t be surprised about the shambles around getting them here. This is a club that couldn’t even get Iheanacho into Poland last season!

In 18/19 we had the best defensive set piece record in the league and in 21/22 we had the worst

 

…but it’s the home office that caused the delay.

Just for the BR doesn't think set pieces are an issue gang.

 

 There’s no getting away from that, we can’t hide our record, it wasn’t good enough. We’ve seen a difference in that in pre-season.

“It’s really cranking up the mentality of players and knowing that every situation is a chance to win a game or lose a game at a set-piece. So we’ve worked hard on that.

 

Because if you strip back even half of those goals from last season that we conceded, we’d have been in a much better place.

I think you answered your own question. We need a set piece coach because the coaches we have already are no good at set pieces. !!

Thousand per week is dirt cheap if we can stop conceding goals & losing points that could have got us into Europe.

The club are making an admission that the present coaching staff are not capable of defending a corner !!!

Because most top teams use them. It's not about whether the manager on 10m a year can coach them or Toure or anyone else. These guys literally sit on a laptop and analyse everything about what our players are doing, where they're moving, not moving what the other team's weaknesses are etc They spend the hours studying this stuff that the others can't do. As difficult as it is to believe, Liverpool actually have a throw in coach. When you finish on 90+ points in 3 out of 4 seasons, you can't say it doesn't work.
