We had some horrendous runs of form and capitulations with Kasper as captain too. Whilst I think we do miss him in the dressing room, I'm not sure he was a great on the pitch leader.

This idea of captain only becomes significant when an individual establishes him or herself by growing into a position where their loyalty, commitment, skill and drive begins to exert an influence around them. This requires a special individual who puts longevity at a club before accruing money or silverware as their priority. As captain Kasper had become this to an extent, but it needs an outfield player to truly fulfil all the necessary functions. Ross Noble springs to mind or Steve Lampard. Dave Mackay was a great captain.

Of our boys KDH could grow into a proper captain. But Rodgers' ego, I suspect, doesn't tolerate rival influences. We're witnessing a great team disintegrating because there's no selfless leadership within the club.

Nearly got a massive move

Similar type of goalkeepers, but Yann Sommer is playing like a prime Kasper Schmeichel at the moment, where as Kasper is past it.

Would love to have Kasper back though!

He should have finished his final year here, and been given a proper and much deserved send off. He still would have gotten a decent move abroad even a year older. He also would have been better than Ward has been so far, and we miss his leadership on and off the pitch.

Just hope our scouts are already hard at work for finding us a starting keeper in the summer.

Guys, im Not sure if some of you are missing the point RE: Kasper, but he was ‘ encouraged’ to leave to save on his wages.

I get the feeling Vardy might get the same treatment at the end of this year.

So what your saying is he could have easily signed a new 1 year contract and took a wage decrease, if he wanted to stay here himself?

No, he was 'encouraged' to leave so we could prioritise wages on other positions. Brendan rates Ward far higher than his actual ability.

It is quite the mystery, not just from watching Ward play, but having a look at the stats, confirms that he is the worst goalkeeper in the premier league.

Nice fans voted him their MOTM against Lille yesterday (69% of the vote :schmike:), 7 saves in a 1-0 win

Not converting at least one goal in those three 1v1s must have been frustrating.

I miss Kasper. Confident with him in goal, a brilliant shot stopper and had a bit of a mean bastard streak about him that we miss!

Agreed, if there ever was a game where we've missed Kasper yesterday was that game.
