I think it was 73 minutes when they had just brought on Baptiste and we had took off KDH when you could see what was about to come for the rest of the game

Baptiste went straight in between the massive gap between the midfield and defence and it genuinely looked like no one had a clue what to do or who should be covering him, he had about 15 yards of space around him in every direction

I think if I remember they launched it long and it didn't come to anything but it really set the tone

Annoyingly he had out-thought Frank for the first 60 minutes or so

But not for the first time, we see him get done tactically when the opponent mixes it up and changes their whole setup midgame

I wouldn’t even say the second half was bad, because is largely wasn’t. We were in control. Some tired legs out there due to the heat. But Rodgers being an egotistical bellend, makes a completely pointless and frankly stupid substitute, and Frank makes wholesale changes, which impact the game largely due to our gaping midfield. I’m still puzzled….

Yeah it’s a far cry from the exciting counter attacking football we used to play. It’s turgid and boring at times and to concede a 2 goal lead today against these is unforgivable regardless of Rodgers excuses.

Having had the drive back to Barnsley to calm down. A few of my thoughts today.

Firstly I was a little concerned by the line-up when I saw it come out, felt we were setting up negatively and I really didn't understand the decision to start Tielemans, who for me shouldn't be starting unless committing his future to the club, and Ward, who has missed the whole of pre-season replacing Iverson who I felt for continuity should have been given the nod. That being said, I personally felt for the majority of the game that was like a performance of Youri of old and was glad to be proved wrong, I also think Ward dealt with everything well, quite bemused to come on and see some of the negativity towards him.

I'm not really an Amartey fan, I think he's ok but worry about how long he can take on the ball and how prone he is to make an error. All in all I didn't think he was that bad today, an easy scapegoat for his role in the second goal, didn't really notice his part in the first, but overall I thought he did ok. Usually I'd favour Soyuncu over him, however, having watched him through the entirety of the warm up I'm amazed he was even involved in the squad. His body language and application to the warm up was poor, he looked uninterested, walking through a lot of drills and just going through the motions, I know it's a small thing to pick up on but for a premier league player its not on.

The wing back system is great providing they get high and wide, see James Justin. For large parts of the first half we looked to get the ball out to Castagne who was stood yards within their half. Considering the wings would have been our best outlet it was infuriating to see him not playing up against their full back getting chalk on his boots and stretching their back line. Every time the ball went out to him he was left with no option to play a pass back or in to a congested midfield because he wasn't stretching the play. Great header though Timmy!

As for our general play I thought for large parts we were ok. Certainly not as good as Brendan made us out to be, we controlled the game but until the changes came Brentford looked like a team who had come with the aim of just keeping the score respectable, no intent to really attack and happy for us to play the ball around. Like last season there's nothing more frustrating than seeing us move with pace only to get to the edge of the box and recycle play, no one has any intention of squaring their man up and trying to make something happen, it's all too safe. Don't get me wrong to go 2-0 up was great, but the instance of passing it around to create an opening kills the pace and power a number of our players possess and the tempo of the game merely suited Brentford allowing them to stay within touching distance of us.

I've said my part about the manager in his thread. I was willing to try and move past last season and back him to get it right but after today I really can't believe he has this clubs best interests at heart.

I was f**king buzzing to be back today, tonight I again feel disconnected from what this team is becoming under Rodgers. It's not the Leicester I know, and while I know various groups are doing their bits to generate some noise and a buzz around the ground, I think it's clear to see and you could almost feel the club as a whole is losing a bit of it's fight.

A very good post and very fair👍

I'm quite fearful for this season tbh and if we get involved in a scrap , I don't think we've got enough strong characters to help us through.

We've seen so many times that when we look like conceding, we don't hang on and see it out, and do let a goal or 2 in.

Even if we haven't made any signings, a top manager should be getting more out of this squad

65 minutes we were absolutely fine, probably the best we've looked in a league game for a long time. Not going to blame the players, they were knackered and needed freshening up. The manager allowed them back into it and to them take control. Dreadful.

Ward was fine, Castagne excellent as was KDH, Tielemans very sharp, Ndidi back to his ball winning best, Maddison fairly lively. The team looked cohesive and confident. Not winning it is on the manager, not the players.

But it largely wasn’t today. We were cruising. Proper control of the game. Knocking it around. No need to go nuts. Hit the post twice. Just a utter fcuk up by Mr Know It All.

There’s a team there - just don’t . cautious, it transmits to the players as a lack of confidence in them.

You’re absolutely right. It happens all to often, yet he never seems to acknowledge it. Taking KDH off and putting Daka on was one of his more bizarre substitutions.

I thought a couple of Amartey's passes today were pretty darned top notch. One particularly,  to Tielemens around the centre circle, had me thinking 'you bin practicing!' Seriously, it was sweet.

Some of the Danny Ward hate here is very strange! Commanded his box well, made a few good saves, and couldn’t have done anything about either of the goals. He was not the issue today!!

People need to get over the fact that Kaspers gone and we're entering a new era now.

Ward rightly deserves his chance and to his credit he never bitched or moaned  while waiting patiently despite being an experienced International Goal keeper himself.

I think Iversen is the future no 1 but he has to wait and bide his time and grab his opportunity when it comes. Ward deserves his chance and deserves our support also.

Do you think that Top didn’t allow BR to spend any money as he thought he might be disposing of his services soon?

Probably doesn't want to be here but a fantastic severance package awaits.

We can only hope so. This coupled with the fact that the new head of recruitment hasn't arrived yet.

The only severance after today should be Brendan’s nuts

Saving that cash for his 30 million pay off? That said, we do seem to have a wages problem, and we haven’t sold a player for a significant sum for two transfer windows now so that’s more likely the reason.

We have a very experienced Captain now who I'm sure has seen it all in his time in the game. He needs to sit down with Brendan and tell him that aside from formation he needs to ltrust

the players and let them get on with the game as they see it unfold.

He might be the manager but he's got to listen to the players also. Losing a 2 nil lead to Brentford today is unacceptable.

Don’t you think it’s ludicrous that he isn’t arriving till September!!!

Just because we didn’t have any wingers we didn’t need to play 3 atb

Amartey was looking quite panicky going into the last ten mins as they pressed him a lot.

we could have switched to 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 if rodgers was concerned about easy possession for them in their 5 around the half way line

the 3 atb just sacrificed a body in midfield and drew them onto us
