Didn't watch so can't comment on overall performance but it's a  continuation of a theme and a real missed opportunity to start the season strongly ahead of some difficult games.

Daka for Dewsbury-hall could be considered an attacking substitution on paper and in sure Rodgers would hide behind that.

We need to sign wingers before the deadline.

Please let’s do this!!

Give him a chance wow

Can’t say he put a foot wrong today imo. A goal where Toney turned Amartey(?) I think who was too soft allowing him a shot from 7 yards and a second goal that can’t get much more in the side netting?!!

The difference between the teams today was all down to the managers.

When we were bossing it in midfield Rodgers took off a midfielder. When Brentford were going nowhere their manager bought on 2 attackers and then a further 3 substitutes as the game progressed. We stopped pressing and gave up at 60 minutes, for Rodgers to then only make one substitute and arguably our best player on the day was strange. There were many more not having a good day, Evans was poor, Justin was really poor and Big Dan was beyond poor.

You can only assume KDH was carrying an injury, why else change a dominant midfield unit?

Huge frustration, because we actually looked really good and we were cruising at 2-0. Taking KDH off unbalanced the midfield. The remaining players looked weary in the heat.

Bringing Daka on was the right call, but surely he should have replaced Vardy, retaining the original formation?

Maybe I’m being too harsh, but no attempt to go for the save. Poor reactions or unsighted?

For the second goal.

Some people are annoying just not giving a player a chance to establish themselves giving them one game before having a go

I have to say - the 2nd goal - it appears Dan is at fault because he's late going out and def doesn't do a good job doing anything other than escorting him into a prime shooting position.  But the reason that goal happened is because we had no midfield.  Where da silva picked the ball up - IMO that's not a defender's man - it's too far out.  In other words, that's where KDH would have been.

Again - just my opinion.

....if the attacker gets close enough, it eventually becomes the defender's responsibility to close them down!!!

We have been prone to this for some time, we do not close attackers down outside the box, as no one perceives them as a threat and takes the responsibility to close them down. It is inherent in this team, we struggle to learn from it and in the next game, we will repeat the same actions if this scenario arises.

Oh boy, this is the start of a long season by the looks of it. This match reminds me of our 2, 5th place season finishes, great starts, terrible collapses, confounded by seriously, questionable, decision making by BR's selection, subs etc.  I was going to say we will learn from our mistakes, but doesn't look like it, (and how many times do we say that, its meaningless), early days off course, but 2 Nil up, dominating the match, it's a bit hard to take, on day one, but expected, I suppose.

Even though we got a point, it feels like a loss, it really should have been 3 points and on to Arsenal.

Last season he criticised the defence due to it's obvious inability to learn from set piece mistakes but when will Brendan hold his hand up to accept his obvious tactical failings. Taking off your strongest midfielder would have been acceptable  if you replaced with another hard working midfield substitute to counter press and restrict Brentford space in front of our defence. Instead he brought on Daka!!! as an extra corner flag? What was clear to everyone was that Vardy was restricted by Brentford's defensive formation. To bring on a second Vardy type player albeit without his physical presence whilst sacrificing a hard working closing down defensive midfield position was never going to work. So why do it Brendan? I don't think Daka had a single touch of the ball for 10 minutes and after that the ball boy on that side was more influential!

Well, i'm gonna surprise one or two people, I thought we were very good....

...Up until about 60 minutes, then normal service resumes, sitting back, you could tell we weren't going to win from that point.

More excuses, more chucking under the bus, all of which he's in control of.

Onto the next one and repeat most of the comments.

Me too. Silly sub and foot off the gas cost us. Always seems a lot worse when you’ve thrown away a two goal lead.

Tbf that’s what Brendan asked for ..  but sadly so far ..  hasn’t got.

...this was down to poor game management and bad coaching, he sends these players out who are unable to cope when dealing with adversity!!!

I know there'll be a lot of "calm down, it's the first game of the season" but to be honest, that really makes it worse not better.

These aren't new problems of Rodgers, the poor formation choices, the poor tactical changes, the lack of game management with substitutions and the team now characteristically collapsing from comfortable positions. The misplaced trust in some players and the unwarranted lack of it in others.

You hope to see some of these things improve on the first day of the season, not get a highlight reel of all our poor traits from the last eighteen odd months rolled in to one game.

There has to come a point where even his biggest fans on here go "yeah, okay, it's pretty serious that he doesn't seem to know how to fix [X, Y or Z.]"

I agree with you to be honest. There is a BUT though… maybe remove Ward and Amartey and arguably his philosophy bears fruit? You can’t play his football with VERY weak links? Dunno mate, just chucking that out there.

Seen this said twice now. They'd scored ten minutes before Daka came on? They were already back in the game and we were defo no longer cruising

We were cruising at the 60th minute, took our foot off the gas and then let them get back into the game?

We should have tried iversen for a few weeks

For me, calling Ward a weak link in this instance is harsh. That's not any sort of bias, either, I've openly said he's not really good enough to be our first choice long term. But he didn't do a lot wrong today and it was quite refreshing to have a keeper come out and collect crosses.

As for Amartey, I mean he's made countless blunders like that and defensive fvck ups that have cost goals and and Rodgers has seen them and keeps picking him so, idk.

He could have played a back four diamond today, he could have played Soyuncu, it wasn't compulsory we picked Amartey that was Rodgers call.

Yes... anyone can concede a good goal.  But given we were bossing it we didnt need ti chase the gane and weaken the mf.

Note to rodgers...  put daka on and go 4 at the back ...

If Cags dosen’t come in for Amartey in the back 3 at Arsenal I’ll be fumin

Obviously there is an issue with cags

perhaps he’s carrying a strain ?

more likely we want him to go (as we will get some money for him as opposed to amartey)  and he’s happy to sit out the season and get his big pay day next summer
