For the Nth time, he literally did the same thing to St Etienne. How can people be this naive.

The funniest thing is seeing Chelsea fans saying it shows how committed he is to them, he's willing to go to these lengths.

What happens when Chelsea don't make CL and/or a bigger team come in from him? Morons.

Shame they aren't committed enough to him to pay the money.

Oh absolutely. But being pissed off and being surprised are different things.

He’s missing training sessions and there’s a possibility he’s refusing to play. Did he do that at St Etienne? Call me naive but it’s disrespectful at the highest order considering we’ve supported him throughout a massive injury and him signing a new 5 year contract not too long ago.

I’m sick to death seeing his face if I’m honest and I don’t see a way back for him. Get him gone.

1 training session by all accounts.

Rodgers doesn't mention it until the "you're getting sacked in the morning" chants happen.

No doubt Fofana and his agent are being knobs, but I reckon the petty Mr Rodgers is fanning the flames so he's got another excuse to pull out when we inevitably fail.

Why shouldn't he?

People always say he should tell the truth but now he's telling it like it is, Fofona is a knob, you're saying he's using it as an excuse. Can't win.

Because he never mentioned it until after the Stockport game despite having plenty of opportunity to lol

Its agenda driven. If he called it out immediately then I'd say fair play

Think Fofana is in for a rough time with the fans, particularly if he ends up staying. For a young player, he's about to have a difficult lesson that actions have consequences in football and fans don't take behaviour like his particularly well.

I honestly dont think it would put Chelsea off, likewise it didnt put us off when he spat his dummy out at St Etienne.

maybe not but it does weaken our hand when the buying team see the manager making comments which will make it harder for him to reintegrate, unless of course even chelsea know the rest of the team wont pay any attention to what Brendan says

I have a dilemma in my head; getting Wesley playing or have a season of Dan Amartey as first choice. I’m going with the lad who won’t lead us to relegation

Only if he plays poorly. Football fans are fickle. If he sticks a few headers away and plays to his ability all will be forgiven, that's just how football works.

If so I hope he doesn't try and curry favour with us

I think this'll run to the end of the transfer window and could get spicy

It's not only Fofana. It's a whole generation of young footballers that are uneducated, arrogant and they only care about their pockets and social media.

....he (Fofana) might say that it is for the sake of his family!!!

Fofana began the 2020/21 season in superb form, starring in defense alongside Timothée Kolodziejczak as Les Verts defeated newly promoted Lorient 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Romain Hamouma.

However, on September 7, L’Équipe reported that Fofana was eager to force a transfer in the final weeks of the summer window. The reason? Whilst Fofana signed a contract extension in April that saw him earn €75,000 a month and pocket a €450,000 signing bonus, Adil Aouchiche, who arrived on a free transfer in July after making just four senior appearances for Paris Saint-Germain, signed a contract that saw him earn €80,000 a month and take home a signing bonus of €4 million.

Three days after the report was published, Fofana confirmed his desire to depart Saint-Étienne in an emotional interview with L’Équipe, stating that he had already agreed a 5-year-contract with Leicester City and pleading the board to accept the English club’s initial offer of €29 million — well above the previous bids from Milan and Salzburg.

“Where I come from, the northern suburbs of Marseille and with a family that is not well off, it is not possible. I would be crazy to say no to Leicester. This contract could change my life. I need to protect my family by keeping them safe.”

The transfer war waged on, with both West Ham and Leicester City tabling bids for the 19-year-old defender. Finally, on September 29, an agreement was reached: Leicester purchased Fofana for €35 million + €5 million in bonuses, the most expensive sale in Saint-Étienne history and the 2nd most expensive purchase in Leicester history.

I know it's mainly media talk, but things seems to be slowly spinning up on Chelsea going in for Maguire if Fofana deal falls through, I think we could be on thin ice here if we arent careful. We need CBs as it is, so the money from Fofana is probably needed, if we go into this season and Evans gets injured we are up the creek. Then add the fact we have Fofana playing for us who has disrespected the club, doesnt want to be here and the fans seemingly now don't want him here.

In our current financial situation, with the desperate need to improve the defence NOW, we need to not be too greedy and take the money.
On one hand, theres a strong argument that Fofana is worth 80m to us, but is not yet an 80m defender, on the other hand, given the current situation, I'd argue 70-75m now, is more important than holding out for 80-85m next week and then having no time to buy a replacement that is actually going to help us.

Take the 70-75m, put add ons for appearances and sign 2 cbs. We really could end up losing out here if we are not careful.

But if that happens, imagine how many hundreds of millions Chelsea are going to offer us next year after a year of Maguire.

I'm finding it very hard to believe that Chelsea are interested in Maguire. If this transfer happens we might see scenes in the pitch Tuchel chasing Maguire to beat him.
