Vesty won’t go unless we sub his wages by £20k a week. - assuming some one offers the £10 mil Fulham did. Not sure the Club hierarchy (Rudders) would sign up for that as it would underline what a fooking poor deal it was last year. We can hope I guess.
FoxinNotts Posted 26 August 2022 Posted 26 August 2022 No point talking about who 'we' want in this thread. Probably will go for Akanji. Seems like a credible source. He's getting no game time this season, for BVB. I'd imagine he's asking for a move, and an opportunity has been eyed. Can see this one happening, next week, as Fofana leaves

You’d be surprised. He won’t be on that much at all playing in Germany. Lacroix really needs to be in the premier league, otherwise he won’t get picked for France unless he plays for one of Germany’s big hitters. 2

Weren't Arsenal scouting him ....they were interested in him this summer but now Saliba is looking good maybe he's not an urgent buy or maybe they will still go for him to make their defence abit more bullet proof.

A few have looked at him. He didn’t have a great season last season, however that doesn’t take anything away from his ability. He could turn out to be an absolutely bargain if we play our cards right. 1
mozartfox Posted 26 August 2022 Posted 26 August 2022 Our recruitment Team are probably suggesting Ryan Bennett and Moller Wague. 3

We should write an open ‘forum letter’ to Susan stating our opinion of the player she doesn’t get involved in the football side but she can certainly ask pointed questions if we buy another dud …..

I mean it's really not very difficult with this one is it. We have faced the worst summer in years because we have been snookered by poor signings who are supposedly experienced and command big wages with very little opportunity to move on and we've had to cash in one one of very few assets we do have rhat are sought after and we're immediately going to go out and buy another one who's put us in this mess. Dortmund fans absolutely hate him, he's also very injury prone. This is every bit as bad as the Vestergaard signing. Even on loan this would be a horrendous waste of time and waste of a squad space to replace the colossal loss of Wesley Fofana to us. 2

Sly Posted 26 August 2022 Posted 26 August 2022 Let’s hope this is one of those rumours where people have put 2 and 2 together and got 13. He’d be about as great for us, as Daniel Amartey.

But certainly not a part of any first choice centreback pairing

I don't watch much European football so have very little clue who this is, but Dortmund fans, who see him the most, think he's a donkey and want him gone. We need to pass on this especially since he's looking for 10M wages. 1
StanSP Posted 26 August 2022 Posted 26 August 2022 A Dortmund fan I've spoken to says that he's not as bad as being made out, and together with Hummels or Can or Pongracic he suffered. But the main gripe he said was that Akanji was asking Dortmund for far too much money. And this is my main concern - we can't afford to be fleeced by a player that isn't going to be seriously good. Akanji doesn't strike me as that player, not to mention that we don't really have the capacity to flash the cash, nor is it our strategy. So with that being said, I wouldn't even consider a loan, given that we're likely going to have to pay a hefty chunk of the wages. So, probably best to avoid this one and move on. 1
coolhandfox Posted 26 August 2022 Posted 26 August 2022 Can't see us going for anyone who wants big wages.
