A guess a certain section of the fanbase would get what they've longed for all this time.
Popular Post Paninistickers Posted 8 April 2023 Popular Post Posted 8 April 2023 I'll be honest. I took PL status for granted. I thought as the financial gap widens, the PL would become ever harder to new teams to crack. I thought even an off season for us would see us 13th or 14th. I'm a bit conflicted. Partly I'm like, City is my team and it doesn't matter where we play. The other part is the feeling that we've dined at the top table and I liked it. I don't know if I can face the food bank again. 11
kingcarr21 Posted 8 April 2023 Posted 8 April 2023 It's obvious we want to win league 2 to complete the set. 3
Blue ROI Posted 8 April 2023 Posted 8 April 2023 This thread could well be active for another 12 months without changes at board level. 1
jonny_wright Posted 8 April 2023 Posted 8 April 2023 Half the squad is leaving in the summer and they don’t care, it’s been the major issue this season….. like any job when you’re leaving you kinda don’t care and down tools 4

Popular Post Fightforever Posted 8 April 2023 Popular Post Posted 8 April 2023 (edited) Our recruitment doesn't really seem to be recruiting with a style of play or formation in mind anymore (since Congerton has arrived imo). We bought Daka who played in a front two for his entire career despite the fact that we play with a lone striker. We bought Soumare a Box to Box midfielder even though we play with a deep lying playmaker and ball winning midfielder. We bought Perez who was mostly a second striker at Newcastle even though we don't play with a second striker. We bought Cengiz Under even though we press high up the pitch and Under doesn't press. We buy a player like Vestergaard when we play a high line. Players like Vestergaard that have the agility of an oil tanker and the speed of a snail do not suit a high line because they are going to be exploited by pacy wingers. Souttar and Faes are the same imho. Our recruitment has recently been recruiting players that aren't necessarily bad players but just players that do not suit our system whatsoever. We didn't really have this problem before Congerton arrived so I expect he was the issue here. Even the bad players we did sign back then did suit the system. Adrien Silva was clearly a Drinkwater replacement both were box to box midfielders. Slimani was clearly a Ulloa replacement. Ghezzal and Diabate were both clearly Mahrez replacements. Benkovic clearly a Maguire replacement both 6 foot 4 ball playing center backs. These days it seems like we buy players for the sake of it rather than actually buying players that fit the style of football we play. Congerton and Rodgers started the rot by getting them involved with issues above their paygrade. We let Rodgers control way too much and now we are paying dearly. Due to our square peg round hole philosophy we don't even have a best 11 anymore. I was saying this in August you can check my post history. I said Rudkin giving Rodgers and Congerton so much control would set back the club at least half a decade. People will blame Rodgers but we should equally blame Rudkin who relegated us by being a pushover to Rodgers and allowed him to change the struture of our recruitment. inckley fox Posted 8 April 2023 Posted 8 April 2023 There's either a clear acknowledgement by the club, internally at least, that drastic change is needed at the top, coupled with a far more vocal and immediate acknowledgement that no, we're not doing our best on the pitch either, and are falling well short - or it's over. Complacency and failure to recognise that there's so much as trouble afoot will do for us unless someone at some level - and it's clearly not going to be the captain or caretakers - makes abundantly clear that whatever our notion might be of what constitutes 100% application in a relegation battle, is not within a million miles of what's required. To me, we're seeing a total absence of desire, and it needs to be called out. Two or three players today could be spared recriminations. And I include Vardy in their number, because it's not through lack of application that he's falling short. Maddison - yes, he is a great talent, yes he was our one shining light in November. But now times have got tough and he's been crap for two months. Maybe, when it boils down to it, he just doesn't have the heart. But why single him out? So long as we're done with the excuses for Soumare, Barnes, Praet, Ndidi, Amartey, Castagne, Daka, Tete, and anyone else who has succeeded in uninspiring to such extents, I'll let him be. I'm sure he's happy about his international caps and his summer move. Like our last captain, and the one before that, by the way. Rodgers pedalled the lie that these guys weren't good enough but did their best. The club, meanwhile, bought into the idea that there was no serious problem. Every last action of theirs has confirmed this, and reeked of a lack of urgency. Accepting that people aren't coming close to earning their corn would be a great start if we are in any way serious about staying up. I'm done with people who don't have the guts for a fight pretending that their sorry efforts really have been passable all along. And that goes for people at every level of the club. 3

How senior management ever let that happen is just beyond me. Players should have been moved on, only nobody else would pay what we wanted, or match what we were paying, in terms of wages. Just so many either flat out bad decisions in terms of recruitment, and failure to actually make a decision, which arguably is just as bad as making the wrong decision, when it comes to seemingly having blind faith in Rodgers. You reap what you sow, we’re going down because of total mismanagement. 5

Corky Posted 8 April 2023 Posted 8 April 2023 More confirmation today. Honestly don't see us winning another game.
Just visiting Posted 8 April 2023 Posted 8 April 2023 As an outsider, I can’t understand how you’re down there. This team basically finished 5th twice, some quality players. You’ll get out of it. 3

Mickyblueeyes Posted 8 April 2023 Posted 8 April 2023 (edited) This one is going to hurt so much. Especially during the summer. I’ve faced other relegations as a fan and never has it felt like this. It’s embarrassing. Infuriating. Because of what we were given. And because of the manner in which that gift was just thrown away. I’ll probably be there first game of next season. 20-25k of us at King Power stadium (I wish it’s called something else next year). However, it’s such a weird feeling, I don’t actually know if I’ll have the same passion, nerves motivation that I’ve had in all my years supporting this club. Even in league one I spent the summer learning key players the season before. Who we should target etc. this time - who gives a ****, if we are going to accept this. After Bournemouth scored today, I did something I never thought I would - went shopping with the Mrs. Didn’t even check the score - I knew we’d lose. I’ve actively chosen to stay away from the stadium for the last few home games. I don’t want to watch them. Again, something I never thought possible. Top, Rodgers and co have done something I never thought possible. Broken my bond after all these years with this club. So **** them. I couldn’t care less what anyone thinks or what admiration they have for them. What they’ve done is disgusting. Here’s to new owners, direction and leadership to reignite the belief. steflcfc Posted 8 April 2023 Posted 8 April 2023 Our main issue which has been left to foster which we all know is there, are a cocktail of players not wanted - players out of contract- players who want a move away at the end of the season and the odd few that are happy to stay. We are no longer a team, just a group of 11 individuals that are thrown out to put a performance in, and out the 11 a good half don’t have the heart for a battle and are just doing the bare minimum. all have there own interests at the forefront and Leicester City as a result are suffering as the Board and Top has let this situation happen. Like in any job (which it is to them) if u we’re looking at your future away or know your not wanted and have 6 months left before you are leaving would you give 120 percent to the cause, potentially not, which is what we are seeing on different levels on the pitch and the ones that do care enough are few and far between. Take Maddison out this side and we have absolute Zero creativity running through this side, it’s no wonder we can’t create chances from open play, doesn’t really matter if we have 1-2-3 or 4 strikers on the pitch if the players behind them don’t have the attacking mindset Maddison has, I can see why he is crumbling under the pressure as it’s all on his shoulders as he must look around and know the other 9 players can hardly create the square root of 0. I was hoping to go today to the match with a rejuvenated opinion that we would turn up today and show a bit of fight, how naive was I. that performance and urgency level especially after a goal down was nothing short of abysmal. They have sadly accepted that they are not good enough to keep us up, whoever is in charge has a huge rebuild on their hands and it’s going to take a good 3/4 seasons to get things right on and off the pitch. Good luck to whoever gets that task as they are going to need it as the club has fallen apart the last 18 months and I don’t know if they know at the top how to stop this slide 1
filthyfox Posted 8 April 2023 Posted 8 April 2023 Maybe we need some American sporting bullshit? Why WAS he sacked from Leeds though?
