I'm going out on a limb.... if we beat Fulham, and Everton don't beat Brighton, I can't see us going down.

It's logical thinking. Let's see how this pans out. As it is we must match the results of all others and we have the advantage of GD. If we go down from this position, we deserve to go down.

If we don't bring an intensity to the game that Fulham simply can't (be bothered to)cope with, it's unforgivable, given what's at stake.

This has probably been pointed out before, but realised 25 per cent of Southampton’s points this season so far came in their two games against us.

They’d be down and we’d be virtually safe if it was the other way.

I'm a bit disappointed to see that standards are slipping here, on Foxes Talk. I mean, why has no one started a 'Teams That Can't Catch Us' Thread this year?

One of many mistakes last summer was not going in for Craig Dawson. He’s been wolves best player as they’ve got themselves safe.

I think he wanted to go to wolves as it’s closer to his home

he may have come here if wolves didn’t want him …… but they did

Indeed, he has his family in the Midlands. We tried to sign him last summer but West Ham wouldn't let him go. I think he kicked a bit of a stink up about it so they had no choice but to sell him.

If there was something important in stake for them it would have been 4-1 to us. It's Spurs.

Yeah we need Spurs to have no pressure on their game at Leeds. Us and them aren't too dissimilar nowadays.

What's the number going to be?  That's obviously a vital question.  I'm guessing 34 to get in on GD (which obviously favors us) and 35 to get in outright.

I think on balance Leeds would have to consider that loss encouraging, though that's a thin straw to grasp with 3 matches left.  I think Sam's formula is simple - steal a point from Newcastle or Spurs at home, beat West Ham away, and hope 34 is enough.

My biggest concern is what happens if we stay up. Next season will be more tricky when we lose players.

You can say that again…

but seriously, that’s next seasons problem.

Objective One: Staying up

Objective two: New manager and back room staff

Objective three: Get anyone out the door early who doesn’t want to be here, see who will put up the money for big players.

Then we rebuild the squad, next season will be a different kettle of fish - two of us, Everton, Forest and Leeds will stay up, there will be three newly promoted teams and at least one team having a good season this year will fall back.

We’ve just got to take care of business on the pitch this season first.

At this stage of the season there is no magic number. Our goal difference means we have to match the results each week of Forest, Leeds and Everton.

Looking at the games remaining logic tells us that Leeds won’t get another point.
Everton will get a maximum of three, on the last day of the season and Forest won’t get a point after the Southampton game.

So this tells us, three points will be fine…

but if we know anything about football it’s that shock results happen, playing last in the next 2 weeks will help us as we can respond.

What we have now could be enough to stay up already if both Leeds and Everton lose all of their games.

We could need another 6 if two of the teams pick up unexpected results.

GD will almost certainly make the difference for somebody.  We can say for certain that we'll win any ties on GD, almost surely Leeds and Everton would over Forest.  But Leeds and Everton are tied on GD and if 18th came down to them it could get really zany on the final day.

We don't deserve to.

If you stay up, you deserve to.

Anyone who just survives relegation is going to be a bad team.  The board has made a complete hash of things, and no one could cry injustice if we do go down.  But if you survive you're one of the 17 who did, not the three who didn't, and sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

There's nearly always (a) worse team/s than yours - the only question is if they're in the same division/league :P

I’m not sure about this. There’s two ways to look at it. In the context of the stand alone season and by general standards across the league.

If one or more teams stay up with 33 or 34 points then it just means not having been as dire as others. Whether that equates to ‘deserving it’ is debatable.

In terms of the league as a whole, most years that would see you go down. Similarly, when West Ham went down on 42 points, did that means they deserved it? I’d argue that more generally, no as they achieved a points total that has always otherwise been comfortably safe. It’s like the opposite to that.
