That makes sense, was pointing it the opposite direction and wondered why I was so hot

We've had how many years to prepare places like hospitals and schools but absolutely nothing has happened.

Presume the government have frantically been doing this the past two years then?

Its also covered by DfE guidance that states that natural ventilation will always be the preference over air conditioning. This is to reduce carbon emmisions and reduce energy usage.

A climate report detailing changes needed was published in may and criticised successive governments for their failures here.

It goes without saying that I suspect we'll see more action from labour than the climate change deniers (and I include feined belief that we can continue to drill for fossil l fuels as part of denialism) currently leading reform and the Tories.

The forecast didn't have the temperature declining much tonight but, it had noticeably cooled by 9pm. Get the windows open :D

Bloody freezing this morning, I want my money back.

So in short….no? The Q was about successive government failures in introducing AC into schools and whether the current government had rectified this.

I didn’t mention reform, Tory’s or fossil fuels.

Yay another thread going political

It's deeply unfortunate that even something so cut and dried as the scientific laws of thermodynamics and their clearly traceable consequences have somehow become political... but such is the world we apparently live in right now.

You didn't.

I answered your question.

Then I added my own thoughts.

That's what happens in an internet forum.

Last night was the first night I struggled to sleep. Never seemed to cool down.

Gonna be 39 degrees down here today then thunderstorms overnight.

Thank God for an air conditioned office.

A simple and cheap option would be for schools to break up on 25-30 June, while getting rid of or shortening half-term holidays and shortening the Easter and Christmas holidays.

Obviously, that wouldn't avoid the problem of heatwaves in June or of heat problems in hospitals at any time.

Monday: 1 year old had his jabs. Expected the usual side effects.

Tuesday: heatwave starts and side effects of the ol Bradford & Bingleys start with him. Keep him hydrated etc. I start feeling a bit peaky.

Wednesday: early hours of the morning, every person in the house is throwing up or recreating the laxative scene from dumb and dumber. Turns out it wasnt side effects. He had norovirus. We now all have it. Trying to rehydrate now an absolute swine.

Thursday: 16 year old nearly better. My wife is just knackered. I got a bit of a bollocking as I fell sleep watching the Scotland game downstairs and woke up at half 5 with the patio door wide open and half of the garden wildlife banging at door mesh.

Luckily I am one of those with portable air conditioning, but literally the worst time to get this shit. Feel for anyone who is having to even go out in this, let alone work.

I believe that in Spain etc, schools start and finish earlier during the summer months @FoxesDeb
