Stadium expansion lol we just about manage to sell out the seats we have now

Maybe we should've stayed at Filbert Street then ! 🙄

Every team that's moved to a new ground or expanded has increased their attendance.

It really does elevate a club's standing if there's an expansion or move to a bigger stadium. It changes perceptions and I would say this is the case for West Ham moving to the London Stadium. It definitely helps to attract players/managers, as well as aiding the chances of retaining existing players. As a comparison, West Ham aren't massively dissimilar to LCFC in terms of honours and Upton Park's capacity was 35k, with the KP's obviously 32k. They do though have a bigger fanbase, with location a clear factor.

We almost sell out most games and are usually only left with single seats which are harder to get rid of.  Having a larger capacity makes it easier for people to attend last minute or to get groups of non season ticket holders together. We're still getting full houses even when performances are abject so if we could improve on the pitch we would have no trouble selling an extra 7-8k tickets.

Guarantee you games like Southampton at home towards the back end of the season when we’re midtable will have empty seats

Are we a forward thinking Club or just prepared to tread water?

For a city and county the size of Leicester/Leicestershire we should easily accommodate another 8K.

Probably but that's not the end of the world.  According to most the atmosphere is sh!t anyway so what do we have to lose? :)

Exactly, remember that game when it seemed like a quarter of the stadium was empty. Club are most probably going to make this new stand a more expensive one too meaning we will never be selling games like that out unless we’re challenging for Europe again

Went on the stadium tour this week. The staff member leading it mentioned that the primary reason for the stadium expansion is that the owners wanted to upgrade the KP's FIFA category so it is eligible to host competitive international games (minimum 40k capacity for competitive games, so we've only been allowed to host friendlies).

There is a different between empty seats and seats not being sold. a lot of season ticket holders choose not to go to games and can afford to be selective with the games they go to.

The seats will more than likely more expensive but i think you will be surprised to how many are empty. The waiting list for season tickets alone will back fill where people move to the new stand from the kop etc.

It will also open up the ground to hold other events too.

Its only a good thing and to only object because there may be a few empty seats against Burnley next year really isnt a reason to not move forward.

That’s assuming that we’re going to be playing against Burnley next year

That’s interesting, been meaning to do the tour myself as it goes. It’s clear there are wider reasons behind the expansion.

Well obviously. If we go down (which we won't) then I imagine it will get out on hold.

Hopefully that will mean that more people can get to games that usually can't get tickets.

All the way to season 2014-15 you could pretty much tickets to most games just by calling up in the week of the match.

Then all the Liverpool, man Utd etc decided they were also Leicester fans.

We need more capacity it doesn't have to sell out for there to be a great atmosphere.

That's been proven in recent seasons where half the crowd get grumbly if we're not playing like prime Barcelona.

I shouldn’t think so. Fulham continued on with their expansion after being relegated.

You build a new stand for the next 50 years, you don’t stop because of a relegation.

Can you imagine Bernie on one of these? Shouting at away fans walking up as he went past them: "Sheffield Wednesday **** OFF"

Wow! Soccer's own Mystic Meg. Here's another...

I guarantee that every team in the Premier League has had empty seats in their stadium at some point this season.
