Would Van Dijk bag 20+ goals a season if you put him up front for a National League North or South team?

Would you back yourself to score at least one goal if played up front for Man City for a full season?

I would say Yes and No respectively.

Probably.

While it's tempting to say yes, I suspect that even if the opposing defence consisted of Amartey and Vestergaard, I'd quickly discover that their pace, skill, strength and ability to read the game were all a bit better than mine, and however many chances the rest of the team set up on a plate, I'd never be anywhere near the plate.

I watch loads of National League North and I don't think so, he'd score goals but not 20+ in a season!

I mean it depends which team as well doesn't it!

Sure why not, dont think it would make a difference.

I think it'd make a huge difference. Man City even with me up front are going to win some penalties and I would score one.

I suppose it depends if Van Dijk would be allowed to be pro. If he can maintain his levels of fitness then being a superior athlete and strong in the air would mean that he'd boss defences around. If he only trains on tuesdays and thursdays and goes for a beer after training and matches then probably not :D

I reckon you'd get the opportunity to score 1 tap in at least if you played the full 90 every week for Man City.

Yeah he would provided he played for a mid table or above side.

Aden Flint scored 14 goals playing at CB in the Championship in 14/15, Craig Dawson scored 10 for Rochdale in 10/11 in L1. 46 games against the likes of Buxton and Kettering, he'd piss it. De Let got 7 in 24 playing upfront in the A league.

As for Man City, if I had a preseason and I was training everyday I'd back myself to be able to score a few tap ins.

If you're good enough to score a goal playing 5s with your mates at Goals, you'd be good enough to get at least one goal across the whole season playing for Man City.

I mean all you really need is to make sure you stay on side and to linger in the box and you're going to get a tap in to an open goal from a cut back at some point.

Shit, if the rest of the team were going out of their way to set you up, let's say its like a Make A Wish thing or something, you'd probably need less than 10 games.

Would Ellen White score 20+ goals a season playing up front for Man City for the whole season?

No to both.

I think Van Dyke would score a few, maybe into double figures but not 20+. Makes me wonder though, how many would Haaland score in those types of divisions?

I would run out of breath and collapse running from the halfway line to the penalty area.  Unless KDB smashes a ball against my lifeless body, and it somehow ricochets into the goal, I can't see it happening.

She would do well to get 5

For the Man City question, if you consider full strength Man City failed to score against Liverpool and only got 1 Vs Villa. The level of defending is crazy in the Premier League the speed strength and fitness of even Amartey is way beyond anything you will have played against. Add to that the goal keepers and defensive midfielders you wouldn't get a sniff unless you were at least semi pro. You've also got to consider how you would change the way they play. Again most of us would be so off the pace that we wouldn't be able to link play, hold the ball or even have the time to take a touch and pass it. You're essentially forcing Man City to play with a man down because any ball to you will result in losing possession 9/10 times. Finally having found a way through, despite the disadvantage of you being there, let's say Foden, looks up, sees you in the 6 yard box and Mahrez flying in at the back post, De Bruyne on the edge of the area waiting for the pull back and Gundogan bursting into the box. He is not going to pass it to you.

First q - I’m undecided. Really good question. Surely 10+ but 20?

second q - not a chance in hell. No. Never. The size and physical presence of all premier league defenders, pace, athleticism. No way. The first challenge would injure me for the season. Then the keepers are well good. Then the pace of the ball when they cross it in. Nothing hypothetical about it, hard no

Van Dijk has far better size, speed, strength, power, ball control, passing ability and football brain than anyone in the National 2nd divisions, quite apart from the obvious difficulties they would have a corners and set pieces..  He should get 20 goals easy IMO.

Maybe true, but he's not going to create chances for himself, so would rely on someone capable of crossing well to create chances for him.

Could just picture the first goal being followed by the bumping of the "Ever obliging Leicester City" thread lol
