Did someone point a gun to his head and say “You must start Praet”?

Yes. And the person with the gun was Rodgers. And the police have declined to investigate. It’s a shambles.

It’s funny how some fans see our games.

We weren’t great tonight but we certainly weren’t bad or lucky. We deserved to win because we were the better team.

Some fans would make you think we scored two break away goals and defended for 90 minutes.

Ostriches.

Not quite, but we only had 5 shots on goal all match, against a really poor side.

Both goals were against the run of play and in the second half we created absolutely nothing.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they were the better team, as they were terrible in the final third, but we didn't play well again.

The only thing I take optimism from tonight, as well as the three points obviously, is how well we defended the box.

Needed 3 points.

Some solid performances, especially Faet who  barely put a foot wrong. Let's be honest, credit to Rogers for the tactics, we had Leeds press style sorted all game by mixing the more direct style with our usual slower build up.

Soumare and perez aren't good enough though.

Overall good performance, let's beat wolves and things start to look a bit better. 3 clean sheets in 4, we are starting to see some positives to the season. We can do this.

Thought Sourmare had a half decent game.  He looks more urgent and alert lately.

Hardly got you purring.

But for once we were not stupid or silly. We ran hard and defended as a team. Leeds naively played a style they can’t simply do.

If we had more performances or intelligence like that, we wouldn’t be in this position

Relieved to win but I thought we were really poor. Both goals were as a result of bad Leeds mistakes.

Defensive positioning was good and we defended our box well, but other than that we were honking. If Leeds had a striker they would have buried us.

Cracks papered, but the league table looks a lot kinder.

Our second goal was a thing of beauty!

The only thing I’d say on that is teams can be professional. Did we okay in third gear because that was enough to win? I’d say so. We didn’t over commit and leave ourselves short defensively.

We look better without Evans. Ward looks more confident. 2 clean sheets with Amartey.  Faes is the nuts.

Feel if we can be more clinical we would have had that 3 or 4.

We’ve totally nullified Leeds and Palace, and most fans gave us no chance in both games. Tougher tests ahead. If we can get that result at wolves, it really changes things.

Winning away feels a tough ask right now, but Wolves are dross so who knows?

We could really have a player on our hands with Faes. He was class today. He wasn't the only one but we know about the others. We need to find another player like him and that's our defence sorted. He's quality.

Future skipper.

Ward and Bouba so much better. Defensively solid, which is good news, but still feel there is a lot of room for improvement. We had 1 shot on target against that shambles of a Leeds side.

Need to get a result Sunday.

It might be boring, but fair play to Rodgers in making the defence a lot more assured in recent games. That was the place to start!

Agreed. I’ve also noticed us starting a little slower. It might be intentional to keep some energy in the tank during our usual 60 min onwards capitulation. Whatever it is it’s working - 2 goals conceded in 4 games.

I think Evans was a great addition when he came here. All his experience at the highest level but he's pretty much shot now.
