Just seen this honesty flags thing on twitter. We are so tinpot it's unreal lol

What even is an honesty flag? Isn't it just a flag?

I think we will win this. Newcastle are the one team I think will drop off in the second half of the season.

Same.

I think they'll be similar to us and end up dropping out of top 4.

You don't know what an honesty flag is but you do know it makes the club tinpot.

It’s a flag mate it’s obvious. What’s an “honesty flag” and why do they need to put it on seats. That’s what’s tinpot. Hope you have fun waving it around

How many will be on eBay after boxing day, will the Gestapo search you on the way out.

The honesty part I assume comes from the idea that you're meant to leave it there to be used again next time rather than nicking it and taking it home to stick on eBay/give to your kids/wipe your arse with or whatever people usually do with their souvenirs

i'd love to meet a few of the weirdos that nick them off people's seats pre game to see what their major malfunction is

The honesty flags is us copying Newcastle and just another sign that the middle tier of management of this club lives on some corporate horseshit planet with zero appreciation with what actual football supporters desire

I mean that's just an outrageously poor take.

comparing Bruno to Drinkwater is a borderline hate crime.

I'll put my hand up and admit I was using hyperbole to fish for near exactly that reaction.

That said, Danny Drinkwater was sensational in our title winning season and essentially ran a midfield that won the Premier League in a team assembled for 50p and a multipack of Aldi Titan Bars. The collapse of his career since then has been an absolute Shakespearean tragedy and one quite clearly underlined by seriously failing mental health and abuses of excess. Meanwhile, Bruno Guimares' career highlights in Europe to date are coming second in the French league cup and somehow convincing the British media he's a global superstar.

He was pretty average in Lyon and hadn't really done much to warrant the fanfare he turned up with. He's definitely had a bit of a purple patch for you but I reckon once you actually have your Robinho moment and start genuinely signing actual top-four quality talent (which you inevitably will eventually do, having sold out your souls to do so) he'll probably be forgotten the same way you've all quickly gotten over ASM now a manager has shown up who actually wants to do more with the ball than smash it up the other end, close his eyes and pray.

If he was here, I wouldn't break up what should be our first choice midfield (Tielemans, Maddison, Ndidi) for him. I mean his closest like for like of that three is Tielemans I suppose and he's not at all of that calibre.

Isak, mind, is an excellent bit of business and probably the closest you've had so far to a 'coming of age' transfer as the next big giants of the league.

it was all so close to a perfect post but then you went and listed ndidi in our first choice midfield

i’d take bruno over him everyday of the week right now.

Ndidi is a statistical monster and still one of the best ball winning midfielders in this or any league.

If actually left to do what he's best at which is winning the ball and handing it off to both Tielemans and Maddison playing in front of him where they should be then I don't know that he's really all that comparable to Bruno.

Ndidi's problems near always begin when a manager starts trying to actually get him to do more than he's comfortable with on the ball and he's not the first or last player in our squad currently to be playing well below the standards they can play at.

And that's where Newcastle absolutely outshine us and a good comparison of our respective managers is probably a good place to start. I don't think many honest neutrals look at their best eleven and ours and claim Newcastle are the better side on paper but they're comfortably above us in the league and probably favourites for this game on merit for some good reasons.

for me he looks a long way off where he was before in his ball winning. His output in recent times has been no better than average in the league. considering that’s his sole purpose i’ve lost all faith.

He’s become rash and consistently looks a yard behind the play, which is shown by the extra clumsiness which has seeped into his game.

I like to think i can look past a player having limited ball ability if he’s excelling in other areas but quite simply, we’ve been a worse team with him in the side for around  2 years now.

I like him as a human… and genuinely want him to prove me wrong because he seems a top pro to have around but everything i see points towards a drastic decline

Didn’t say I was happy about it, I just don’t slate something when I don’t know what it is in the first place.

Looking forward to this now. First half of the season was tough going. Felt for large parts we were sleepwalking into oblivion to be honest but do now feel we're past the worst of the madness and we're serious again. So I'm sure it's a resounding defeat here to get me right back in September mode!

So they are titled ‘Honesty Flags’ so people don’t steal them? There’s actually no relationship with the word ‘honesty’ really, is there? What bizarre and desperate thinking.

Anyway, we are going to do very well to get something out of this game - hope we are firing on all cylinders as they will be relentless and up for it - I’d probably take a point now tbh.

Oh and on the subject of hate crimes, offering £60m for James Maddison is straight up abusive.

I hope he stays many more seasons at Leicester, but I can see why another club would be reticent about blowing big bucks on a player who potentially has injury issues. They may have seen what has happened to the last few Chelsea purchases from Leicester.
