I think as mere fans we are always guilty of this. Things quickly change. From a moral point of view and when the transfer window was open, Winks future here looked all but done and therefore we were better to plan without him. He's stayed, he's impacted the game greatly on Saturday when Soumare and Skipp have flopped (not for the first time) so the temptation is to use his talents and not make the game otherwise even harder for ourselves?!

Call him out on the pod Ric

I think it's also fine to just change your mind about things - if you said last season or in June or at the start of the season or whenever that Winks shouldn't play for us again, you don't have to think that forever. Reconsidering your opinion as situations and your own feelings change doesn't make you fickle, it makes you a normal human being. We would all be better off if people were more willing to do this.

Spot on.

We’re all guilty of doing it, but we often forget that footballers are humans, albeit overpaid ones.

That means they will make mistakes, Winks didn’t win over many fans but seeing Bouba and Skipp get dominated once again on Saturday surely is a reason to start integrating Winks back into the first eleven.

If Winks re-establishes himself as a starter and returns to his 23/24 form, it will be interesting to see how many people are still bothered about the fact that he was a bit mardy in August. Hardly anybody, I'd imagine.

Can be as mardy as he likes if he puts his all in and performs on the pitch.  Dont really give a damn about these lads off the field, if they perform and don’t bring down the rest of the squad.

A good example is drinky. A very difficult character as explained by Pearson. Gave us a fair few ear cuppings and angry celebrations himself. But he performed on the pitch and that’s all that matters at the end of the day. I mean unless they are truly being a nuisance around the place but I’m sure he’ll start being happy if we start winning again.

Agreed on that, it's good that people can change their mind. It's when people flip flop multiple times and that's just basing your opinion on the most recent event, which isn't very impressive lol

Completely agree with Jordan’s take on Mavididi and the fans chanting for Monga the second he missed the chance. While he absolutely should have faced up and walked past our fans, in the same way he should have done at Preston a few weeks ago, but our fans treating one of our biggest goal threats this season like this is playing into the narrative that we are turning into an entitled bunch.

Another great pod.

I loved the Bouba comments as he gets a free ride on here from so many, such a nothing player.

Ric the milk monitor 🤣

I’d love to know what the hell this and other managers see in this guy. Everything said in the episode was spot on. He’s a drain on this team

Interesting discussion.

Mavadidi is a winger, they are confidence based, if he was consistent he wouldn't be at Leicester City. Dare I say it Vardy could be a streaky player too.(obvs he achieved big things)

The Soumare conversation, I though he was bad 1st half and better 2nd against Cov. My opinion he did deserve player of the Match against Brum. But agree he is a frustrating player!

Ric being a milk monitor makes so much sense, he's always come across as a grass ;)

I ran a tight ship, i'll not discuss this any further thank you.

Get what Ric says about Nelson but i think the issue is managers don't have enough trust in the hierarchy that they'd stay in a job if they put future over short term.

But this is why clubs are supposed to have Sporting Directors now to oversee a whole vision. Managers will only ever put their best interests at the forefront of the decisions and Faes and Vestegaard are our best centre backs.

We really do need to be including him in at least the squad though.

Yeah you're right. I was hoping Marti was cut from a different cloth as he has brought through academy players at other clubs but for example Hammarby in the past were very much all about maximising player value which would require constant fast tracking players with the pursuit of selling them. At QPR he didn't have the squad size he has here and that is the sticking point. He's under pressure not to leave players on £40-50k a week out the match day squad.

I personally think Martin believed Faes would be off to Turkey, hence why he wasn't starting him etc; therefore Nelson would've had a spot.

Sadly, hasn't worked out and should've gone out on loan in hindsight.
