Given where most football fans on social media get their views on players, I assume this has something to do with it:

Personally I find the 81 dribbling funnier than the 96 pace and I like the guy.

That's a special card where stats are boosted. You can get a 99 pace Peter Crouch

Saying Lloyd Dyer couldn’t hit a barn door is unbelievably harsh. He was a great player for Leicester.

Wes Morgan was a great player for us, he wasn't exactly agile. Jamie Vardy is a great player for us, he can't really dribble for shit. Muzzy Izzet was a great player for us, he was hardly dominant in the air.

Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, Dyer was electric and terrifying for defenders at this level, he grafted, he dribbled well, he created space all over the place for the other forwards. But lets just be honest, his finishing was "inconsistent" at best and that's being generous. Every time he took a shot you could roll a dice to determine which row it'd end up in. He was just as prone to hit the corner flag as the bottom corner.

Yeah absolutely but not shown is the one probably two minutes before that where he toe poked it out for a throw in from inside the six yard box.

Look I loved the guy just as much as the next City fan. I'm just not experiencing the usual weird revisionism.

Your weirdly negative take on Dyer, including this latest imaginary toe poke scenario shows you’re equally guilty of revisionism tbf.

It's not revisionist to say Dyer wasn't a great finisher. He wasn't. It did improve over time, but it wasn't great. If he'd been good at finishing on top of his other attributes then he wouldn't have been playing for us.

Lloyd Dyer is a saint on earth and I won't hear a bad word against him. He had all the attributes that are missing from the lot who got us relegated. What a shame he couldn't have been rewarded with a PL medal by hanging around for a couple of years more.

He's an absolute beast on FIFA, keep playing him up front in career mode and he'll become one of the best strikers in the world lol

This is coming from the game that still rates Pereira as one of the best right backs in the game though.

Christ Ian Stringer is a great commentator. A bit of a knob by all accounts but that guys voice never broke. Owen Palmer-Atkin just doesn’t live up to it.

We wouldn’t have won the PL had he played enough games to qualify for one.

It's weirdly negative to shower someone with praise but accept they have flaws?

I have a strong suspicion you either very rarely watched Lloyd Dyer play live or you were imbibing a little too much when you did.

If Dyer had been a reliable finisher on top of his pace, fitness, upper body strength, agility, work rate and dribbling he'd have been a Top 6 club.

Might be lack of confidence or service, but I’ve seen very little (other then the odd strike) to suggest he’s good enough.

Not strong enough, I’m not convinced he’s actually that fast and technically not great.

He does work hard and seems like a good character, so maybe it’s a case of working with the right manager. His goal scoring record suggests he has ability. I just don’t think we’ve seen it yet.

Give him one to one sessions with Vardy to teach him ball control first touches knowledge of space etc, he has the pace he just needs to be taught the rest by the Legend the Goat the 11th Heaven Specialist how to destroy defences that said after that he’d be fuching unstoppable!!

Mate I’m a season ticket holder and I’ve been going for years. I watched the vast majority of Dyer at our stadium and I don’t drink at the match. I’ve never said he’s a top 6 player and that’s irrelevant anyway as he’s not being compared to a top 6 player. Some of the stick he’s got on this Patson thread is weird. Quite why his name was brought up in the first place I don’t know. He was a great player for us.

He wasn’t brought in as a striker, his overall technical ability has been compared to Daka and from what I’ve seen that’s a very harsh comparison for Dyer. He was no mug with the ball at his feet.

Really don't rate daka and I'm not sure stepping down a division will make much of a difference and he is severely lacking in basics.

The one thing you can say is that given a chance he can finish and he's one of those players that has potential to be stunningly good if it all clicks. But, I don't think that's going to happen and we should sell if the opportunity comes up.

he was a success in germanys top division so  that tells you there’s something in him. Wether he’s suited to the English game is another thing…  but I’d like to see him play in a team winning games and doing well. If he fires blanks in that set up then it’s fair to cut our losses.

impersonally believe with decent wingers,  he’d thrive. But we might not be playing that style..

We were to the right of the goals for that game. We saw Lloyd's shot heading directly towards us then.... STOP... then a nestling of the net.... then, cue Mayhem !!
