Unless Potter becomes available, I’d go for Benitez or Hassenhuttl.

Benitez knows how to organise teams defensively which is our biggest issue, and he started well at Everton - a similar start for us may be enough.

Hassenhuttl is a good motivator and could get the players going again.

There will be better candidates for the longer term but priority is staying in the division.

Spot on regarding Benitez

Why does Allardyce keep being mentioned? When he joined West Bromwich Albion in December 2020 they were 19th. in the PL. They stayed there for the remaining 25 matches of the season, gaining just 4 wins during that time, and then got relegated. His record there was even more hopeless than Rodgers's is this season at City!

Nuno ? I’d take anyone like folk have said it’s 10 games 30 points to play for! We still would have a chance if we get someone in for the remaining games.

Making a permanent appointment with ten games to go would be a mistake. Nobody credible or worthwhile is going to want to join a team in the relegation zone at this point on a short term deal. A few months ago I think we might have been able to attract someone reasonably competent who would have fancied their chances of steering us well clear, not now. It's got to be Knudsen, Stowell, Sadler or whoever until the end of the season, hope that the excision of Rodgers is sufficient to get us out of the mire then make a proper appointment in the summer once we know where we are.

We don’t even need anybody particularly good or impressive. Literally just somebody who can organise and motivate. These players are good enough, they just need somebody who can truly help them.

Haha it is ridiculous that it has come to this, but you’re spot on.

Re Rafa Benitez-

I would have confidently backed Benitez to get us a point against Chelsea, Southampton and Palace and then go on to get more than Rodgers will in the remaining games, just his organisation, tightness and ability to squeeze the life out of a game once in a satisfactory position (protecting a point or a lead). Now single points won’t be much use, 4 games ago they’d be acceptable.

But then again I’d also back Sooty and Sweep to manage us to more points than Rodgers will get. We have no game management, not enough leaders, not enough nastiness and are carrying passengers, sorry Tete if you just want to stand and watch a Premier League game buy a ticket like the rest of us.

Bournemouth will be smelling blood and fancying their chances next weekend whilst Villa look streets ahead of us particularly in form and confidence. Anything less than 4 points and we’re down but the opportunities of points vs Southampton and Palace were wasted by the rinse and repeat Lemmings off a cliff approach, do we ever throw the opponents a curveball and give them something to adapt to deal with? What do they do all week at Seagrave, do they watch games back and discuss them at all?

I keep hoping for a Roy Of The Rovers swan song for Vardy to rescue us and get his season going at last and that really is straw clutching, someone has to do something different to what they have been doing and I can’t see any signs of that happening.

If he goes before the summer it's only going to be a stop gap appointment until the summer. Even those managers out of work won't want to take over long term without knowing what league we are in. So to me thats:

Knudsen/Stowell - already at the club, most likely move

Craig Shakespeare - known at the club, has done a similar role before well. (Also wouldn't surprise me to see Dean Smith come with him).

Sam Allardyce -  A complete free hit for Big Sam with a big bonus if we stay up.

Esteban Cambiasso - Again, known at the club, more of an inexperienced risk but would instantly get fans on side.

Not going to happen but we need somebody who can tighten up a defence and structure the midfield. Now we have a competent goalkeeper there is a starting point. We are so open despite setting up to be supposedly compact and "controlling".

Have to think it's an interim in the Big Sam mold.  No serious manager is going to want to take on this nightmare with 10 matches left.

We can do better than Allardyce but you seem to have carefully handpicked the only time he was drafted in to a side to save them from relegation and failed lol
