When he scored that goal against Barca I thought, **** me we have a player here! Then it went to shit.

2 goals. i have the recording of that game somewhere… it’s one of the best deceptive performances of a leicester player ever. I have absolutely no idea where it came from

Yeah but of the 2 which do I mean when I say "That goal"?

You're not wrong, deceptive and had us all excited.

Dyer was class, his pace meant he didn't need any skill to beat his man, just knock it past them like he was playing Sunday league.

Having a skillful player on the other side in Knockaert and then Mahrez was genius. I think if we'd have gone up a bit earlier Dyer would have torn the Premier League apart too. If he had a bit better footballing brain he really could have been a top player.

Absolutely class for us though. Another one who got way too much uncessary shit off our fans.

Reading this thread has just made me think about how much we probably miss having an old school winger with pace to stretch a game. Doesn't need to be anyone who is technically brilliant, just someone who is happy to play the role of coming off of the bench for the last 20 minutes to bomb on down the line and cause some havoc.

He did get some unnecessary crap but when we played Burton a few seasons ago he got an absolutely tremendous ovation from the Leicester supporters - He was also clapped regularly and cheered when he took corners - so much so that he called us good people - I nearly fell over

I think his lad supports Leicester too

Top speed is a dumb metric when looking at fastest players. It means nothing if you sustain it for about a second or it takes you ages to get there.

You want to be looking at 10, 20, 40 and 100 meter sprint times which ultimately are never well published for professional footballers and even then they'd probably be in favourable conditions with suspicious results that'd never actually count for official records.

I'd be amazed if Soyuncu or Morgan actually clocked impressive 100m times compared to Vardy or De Laet at their peaks.

Surely a footballer needs speed over a short distance and quick acceleration.

Yes exactly and that's why looking at a player's time over 10m, 20m, 30m, etc is generally more useful than a 100m sprint when trying to judge a footballer's speed.

Even then it doesn't really account for recovery, awareness, reaction times, etc.

Either way "top speed"  as an individual metric is utterly pointless.

Jeff Schlupp was quicker than Vardy apparently when in his prime.

Justin before his first injury must have been the quickest in the squad - he had serious pace.

Ah, see what you're saying.

I’m sure that Wasilewski was clocked at racking up a very decent speed over a certain distance one season.

fist/ elbow speed doesn’t count.

Barnes seems to cover ground quickly without looking like he's trying.

Daka must be up there too, he just looks a bit more clumsy with it.

I haven’t seen anything to prove this - we thought he was really quick when he came but he never seems to outsprint anyone

Some names I've not seen yet

Ahmed Musa

Zoumana Bakayoko (Only played for us twice)

Jermaine Beckford

DJ Campbell

Vardy is hands down the quickest I've seen though I think. Dyer 2nd.

Our group chat last night was going through the fastest players to play for us.

Vardy

Joachim

Dyer

De Leat

Gray

Any other suggestions? Kante was mentioned but I wouldn't have him in the above list for pace.

Didn’t we have Franz Carr at the club for a while? He was rubbish but rapid!

Ash Chambers has always been very quick. Still is tbf.

And DJ Campbell was no slouch either

Joachim. Look at any of his goals between 93 and 95. Never seen a player give so many defences a ten yard head start and still win the race. He was very one footed but really should have got higher than an also-ran Villa side.
