Should not go back - his time came and went.

we need a younger manager that has an ethos, maybe on the rebound but wants to build a team from the bottom but someone who has been successful - can relate to modern players but also be strong enough to have a proper style, not accept average but also build a culture.

It may sound ridiculous but I think Steven gerrard did a great job at Rangers and will have learnt a lot at villa including some failings.

we will be a fantastic opportunity but will need someone to build us bottom up and be clear on a plan - don’t want a Benitez, smith,  allardyce and not take a punt on a Martin, McKenna, Robins.

whoever we go for will have a massive task and someone that will attract young talent will be imperative and that can coach with a pedigree would help !

So Robins is a punt but Gerrard isn't

Scottish football is a two horse race at best and apparently Micheal Beale was the brains and Gerrard was the front man. Villa fans all say the same thing and that Gerrard was useless !!

We don't need a face for TV... We need a proper manager !!

Mark Robbins (former fox) if Coventry don't get promoted.

Tony Mowbray set to depart Sunderland good at developing a young squad for the rebuild.

Michael Carrick if Middlesbrough don't get promotion maybe...

Nigel Pearson but doubt he would come back to put a rebuild in.

Ranieri

Jose Mourinho

If we survive relegation and wanted to compete top 7 again although would cost alot but doubt he would come but would be a great option if we could also if he fails to get PSG job

Wonder if Bielsa would be tempted for another spell in the championship.

Like him but I really think we need someone who's more of a defensive manager.

Need to fix out problems at the back.

I'd love for him to be here.

Vieira could be an interesting choice in the Championship.

One thing for sure, let’s hope Glover has some very good contacts for wheeling and dealing.

So important that we get a few exciting loan deals in with our limited funds.

He's taking on the Uruguay job.

Won't see him over here again.

We could get a great manager if the board are serious about getting back up and give him £100m to spend etc.  They won't though.

They won’t because £100m is completely unrealistic.

We’re getting relegated and the board is still full of delusions about the caliber of manager we could attract.

What I meant is if they are offering to back substantial investment in the team,  the job becomes a fantastic opportunity for a great deal of candidates.

Ok fair, I’m really not sure what substantial investment is in the championship now but we have never spent £100m in the premier league so it’s nowhere near that. Using the loan market wisely is important, bringing younger players. The big Nige blend basically!

(And that’s not a call for his return)

Mate, I think your right.

I'm still stupidly hoping for a miracle and we stay up before i can properly focus on the Championship.

One BIG problem we have is Soton will get in good players, they have a knack. And Leeds will spend like money is no object.

So if logic holds, that's a lot of teams fighting for 1 place.

We are able to employ other managers apart from Villa Rejects.

Southampton is an interesting one they've only spent 7 seasons outside the top division since 1978. Less than it last took us to come back up once we went down. I don't think we will have the same experience of coming back up as last time. All I can really compare it to is when KP took over the time it took to get to the premiership which must of been what 2-3 years.
