Had an aerial ball coming straight to him at one point, just stood there and let the Bournemouth guy run up, control it and dribble past him. Horrific player, one of the laziest to put on the shirt

Loved the part he did a couple of Ronaldoesque step overs and then lost the ball 😂

He'd be the first player I'd sell in the summer regardless of what league we're playing in.

For some bits of the second half, he was able to use the one thing he does pretty well, which is dribbling, in the attacking half of the pitch, and had some alright moments. However, nothing sums up our club more, than the fact this player, who has 1 strength in dribbling, and massive weaknesses in positional discipline, tracking runners and workrate off the ball, has exclusively played in defensive midfield for his entire time at the club. The one position heavily dependent on everything he is weak at, and the one position where he couldn't make any use of his positive atrributes. This is the kind of tactical acumen that leads to selecting a goalkeeper for 2/3 of the season who can't save shots on the basis he's more comfortable doing Cryuff turns in his own box than the other keepers, and ends with you passing the ball about in your own half as 90 minutes clocks by in the last game of the season and you successfully see out a 0-2 defeat to West Ham and confirm 20th position is in the bag.

Still seeing tweets from people who know absolutely nothing about football saying he’s going to come good.

He is without a doubt the worst centre mid i’ve ever seen at the club. Worse than Lewis. Worse than Jarrett. Worse than Johnson. Worse than Hughes. Worse than Tiatto and whoever else you can come up with.

Garbage.

Not sure how he was our best player lollollol. A 10-minute spell in the 2nd half doesn't warrant that.

He still has no idea how to do the basics. In the first few minutes when he couldn't control a tap of a pass said it all about him lol.

Useless, no matter how hard he tries. Not good enough for us next season in the Championship.

Actually thought he was just about the only one showing any desire in that 2nd half despite the lack of quality, he was at least trying to get stuck in and not hiding. He was probably one of our better players today, which says just how poor we were.

Are you genuinely serious. Walked about doing nothing.

Showed more desire than Maddisson tbh

depends how you view desire. In the first half he broke but was outnumbered but when they got the ball he just jogged back rather than sprinting to make a challenge… that’s the type of stuff that winds me up.

Yes I am genuinely serious. He didn’t walk about at all, he was actually one of the few trying to get stuck in and ask for the ball even if his quality was often off.

He had comfortably the most touches (65) of any of our midfield/attacking players today. Compare that to 41 from his midfield partner Ndidi for example who was often hiding. Also had the joint most tackles of any player today.

No one is saying he was amazing, but it’s harsh to say “he walked round doing nothing” today, which is the case with him in most games. He was actually trying to get involved while other players’ heads had completely gone and they went into hiding.

All this love for Soumare today from some, hardly a surprise as expectation levels for his performances are virtually zero after being arguably our biggest flop of signing.

Where is anyone “loving” him? People are just saying he was one of our least bad players today and was one of the few who was actually trying to get involved and not let their head drop, even though his passing quality wasn’t always good. No one is claiming it was an amazing performance or anything.

saying he wasn't the worst of a spectacularly bad bunch is hardly a love in

Based on the last 15/20 he could work in a Marsch system where he's dribbling forward and not passing backwards, or sideways.

Seriously doubt it though.

I know what you mean I do remember that tbf

I thought in terms of a progressive midfielder, he did a decent job, I wonder whether we mistook what sort of player he is, and whether he’s a player that’s needed time to settle in to the league

The fact that Soumare is 6’2 and yet is one of two players that stay outside the box as defensive cover when we attack at corners tells you everything you need to know about the lad.:dunno:

I don't recall him ever winning headers anywhere on the pitch.
