So yes, it might well be a master stroke. Yeah and he failed with Norwich and got away with it at Villa by the skin of his teeth
Popular Post jonah Posted 10 April 2023 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2023 (edited) We were going down with Rogers and we were going down with S&S, at least these 3 have a chance of stopping the rot, even if it's just a small chance it's better than non at all. Edited 10 April 2023 by jonah 20 1

Hammo Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 Desperate times call for desperate measures. I don’t care what fans of Villa and Norwich think about Smith and co. If by some miracle he keeps us up, he’ll be a Leicester hero. Let’s do all we can to back him and hope that he can sufficiently motivate this team of underachieving softies and clean up the mess that Rodgers left behind. 4
Will1981 Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 We took 16 points from Shakeys 1st 8 games after Ranieri, we probably need about 10 to survive this time. 2

That Team selection against Bournemouth is something bordering on the insane., let’s get behind the new men and give this a go. S & S need getting rid of at the end of the season and start afresh with a new coaching team for next season
st albans fox Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 Interesting me that JT is on board He left the pair in July 2020 a few months before they were sacked by villa he didn’t join them at norwich it could be as simple as him being in a job at Chelsea but why come here for two months ????

Corky Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 Oh look, I'm underwhelmed but time to see what he can do. Just get us fired up and attempt to play attacking football, please. 1

They were always destined to be relegated IMO. Not saying Smith didn't play a part in that, but I certainly wouldn't judge him too harshly either. Villa fans mostly positive about him. I like the Shakey/John Terry combo coming in too. Familiar face and a bastard! Could work 1
Popular Post Dan Posted 10 April 2023 Popular Post Posted 10 April 2023 I don't particularly rate Smith but I'm glad we're not tied down to anything silly and I'm glad we've got an actual manager who'll have a clue what he's doing in comparison to the last two games. We still need wholesale changes at board level for the absolute shitshow served up this season but I think our chances of survival have genuinely gone up a touch. We needed fresh voices at the club. Probably the best of a dreadful, ultimately self-inflincted situation. 10

I think when he left he thought he'd get manager job offers; he under estimated how much he's disliked. If he fixes this defence even I'll sing his coaching praises. I bet he's agreed a very nice bonus if we stay up too.
CosbehFox Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 The one thing I will credit for is saying 'I'll have a go on an interim deal and see where it gets us' Unlike Marsch, failure at two clubs, and thinks he can start demanding 3 year deals. 2

I get he may like a challenge but I can’t see much upside for him EDIT: I think he is involved at Chelsea with the youngsters and if he doesn’t like Frank then maybe this gives him the excuse to get out of there whilst Frank is around Edited 10 April 2023 by st albans fox

Underwhelming or not I will be backing the new manager. 1

Balders65 Posted 10 April 2023 Posted 10 April 2023 Fair do’s for them taking a crack at it. Like it or not it’s what we’ve got. Let’s hope they’re on the case soon as possible and hopefully JT might be able to do something with the defence.
