In relation to his time at Norwich, I see Smith very much in the role of Manager, with the  day to day coaching being delivered by Shakey, JT and Sadler (who I believe the club hold in high regard as a coach), therefore very much like Pearson, O’Neill etc Smith will not be involved in delivering many of the sessions but will be setting the structure of the sessions to be

Implemented and delivered by a group of trusted and high quality coaches which we know have.

Yeah you're probably right.  Also he didn't have Terry at Norwich, which may make a significant difference.

Bit miffed about Marsch not getting it TBH.

Never mind.

SAS V2 + FKW > SAS V1

I'm not.

It was only a few days but I was already sick of, Ted Lasso, soccerball, field goal etc....

.. at this moment,  what odds would you give for us to go and win the Premier league next season!!!

You can have whatever odds you want …

Whatever happens, show some bottle and go for it at Man City. If you setup to defend, it’s game over. They’re too good and will score against us, we need to throw caution to the wind and take a chance, literally a free hit with nothing to lose.

we effectively have a point to lose if we screw up our 8 goal difference advantage over Everton (and three goals ahead of Leeds) . We are now in a five team mini league (Southampton, forest, Everton, Leeds and us). Our GD means we start on 26 points.

Wonder if he will bring Neil Cutler with him, outstanding goalkeeping coach.

Stowell has hardly covered himself in glory during recent years.

Not likely as its only an Interim appointment for now. Plus Mike's pretty much furniture these days, he's a bit like Rudkin I imagine, in that he's going nowhere

I think it's a really sensible move, but it's probably too late. I can't look past the narrative at the end of the season being "what if Smith had a few more games?".

Realistically we need to get something from each of Wolves, Leeds and Everton.

What ? You think a man that won almost everything wouldn't install standards in the players. 🤔

I'm thinking in terms of personal standards.

TalkSPORT producers will have plucked that idiot from a list of dozens purely for clicks/plays.

Anyone with a decent footballing brain knows Dean Smith is a good manager and his coaching set up is impressive.

He improved Walsall, Brentford and took Villa out of the duldrums. All while playing fast flowing/good football.

Yep. Though frankly, I'll take boring crap that keeps us up right now 😂

'Ndidi as a roaming centre back' already sounds like a headline after one of his masterclass performances...

He's played there many times before. He's the only one who has the pace to snuff out trouble.

Yes he has a mistake in him but so does Madison.

The point is we have to try something different if only to confuse other managers in their prep to beat us.

Otherwise we continue with the failed system of Rogers.

Got to back him haven't we, and as a trio it seems decent. Agree with the underlying feeling some have that it's probably just too late though.

Mentioned in the other thread but I do worry he's going to be here longer than these eight games regardless which I don't think is quite for the best long term. Terry must've left his job at Chelsea, no?

Good luck Mr Smith. There is one thing I would like you to do asap, is to put a stop to this ridiculous

playing out from the back when the goalkeeper has the ball.

Back in the 60’s & 70’s with the likes of goalkeepers Banks, Shilton and Wallington when they had the ball

90% of the time they hoofed it down the pitch, it then becomes a 50/50 ball and unnerves the defence. I am

convinced this would revitalise our friend Mr Vardy, and immediately puts the defence under pressure.

How many times have we seen the defence dither around trying to play out from the back, and on numerous occasions

it has cost us dearly. Please instil into the team to be more direct and pressurise defences in more ways than one.

Also I would like to see us being more direct instead of playing the ball from side to side in monotonous fashion In

midfield then finishing up with the ball in the goalkeeper’s hands. The time wasted in games must be enormous

sometimes. As we used to say back then…….Attack Attack    Attack-Attack-Attack.

Talk sport is known for just picking out idiots to go on their shows. Their phone ins are just pointless arguments… it’s essentially Jeremy Kyle for sport.

Let’s all get behind him and his team. Think it might be too late to get the amount of points required. If he performs well and we go down, wouldn’t be against giving them a chance to help rebuild the team and get us straight back up.

Being honest though, I love it.

Villa posted something about him joining us earlier on Facebook - lots of replies from Villa fans and generally they love him and say they have a lot to thank him for.

What is there to be miffed about? He didn't want a short term deal. He was who we would have went to if we couldn't get someone until the end of the season. Shelf explanatory, really.

It doesnt work like that, we have 25 points + GD advantage. If we finish on the same points as we have now and another team has 26 points then we still finish below them. GD advantage has less value than a single point.

Well not this tribe. I bet Smith is in dream land when you consider what he's been used to with the stadium and our training complex.

My preference was and still is for Rafa.

Aye, Villa park is a right shed.

If you listen to it, she had spoken to O'hara on Saturday,  so it was all stage-managed.
