Bazly Posted 10 July 2023 Posted 10 July 2023 Reported to be a £25mn bid from the oil State toon which would be an absolute bargain for a 15 goal last season winger. The offloading could begin to look more like a fire sale if he goes for anything under £40mn. 1
st albans fox Posted 10 July 2023 Posted 10 July 2023 Last summer they low balled the club for madders the club briefed journos about their disappointment that a bid so low would be tabled I would be so happy for the same to happen again over this - Poundland spurs when it comes to negotiating! 2

As soon as muck like Buendia was going for £35m a few years back, the bar was set. £40m minimum. Villa bought Buendia after getting Norwich promoted, rather than after Norwich got relegated so it was harder to prise him away from them as they didn't need to sell. Plus Villa had to outbid Arsenal for him

Popular Post Foxin_Mad Posted 10 July 2023 Popular Post Posted 10 July 2023 (edited) I'd just tell them to **** off and never insult us again at 25m. Saudi FC *****. Edited 10 July 2023 by Foxin_Mad 7
DezFox Posted 10 July 2023 Posted 10 July 2023 We can say what we want about Barnes but he doesn’t seem to be forcing a move, has 2 years left and delivers numbers better than nearly all in his position in the prem and has done so I good teams and poor ones. Anything below 40m is criminal IMO. 1
when_you're_smiling Posted 10 July 2023 Posted 10 July 2023 This is the team that paid £60m for Anthony Gordon remember. No chance Barnes goes for £25m as probably West Ham will be in the bidding too.

Popular Post moore_94 Posted 10 July 2023 Popular Post Posted 10 July 2023 Needs to be minimum £40m upfront Anything less is just an absolute failure from us 8

OK there's 2 people who think this is funny, google is water wet and find out. Also Barnes mustn't be sold for any less than 40 million or it's pointless. Edited 10 July 2023 by elvisfmcfly Staying on topic.
Lesta Legend Posted 10 July 2023 Posted 10 July 2023 The mail article that talks about the £25 million is definitely talking from the Newcastle perspective, rather than this being briefed by Leicester's side. I remember articles saying Maguire was going for £30m. The figure definitely feels low so I wouldn't get so worked up from a press release just yet. 1
Dames Posted 10 July 2023 Posted 10 July 2023 Newcastle would absolutely the worst place for the lad to go. They wouldn’t be able to get him out the nightclubs. That and 25 million is an insult, we need to put our foot down with them now and tell them we won’t be doing any dealings with them at all in the future even if it spites ourselves.

kingkisnorbo Posted 10 July 2023 Posted 10 July 2023 All this “Anything less than (insert eye watering fee) is a disgrace” fluff has to stop. It doesn’t matter. If he wants out, get it done.

Or anyone who posts it should be banned from posting: It takes us ages to get these sales finalised Its a scandal that players run contracts down 25 mil does feel light though, and somewhat hoping thats a low balled figure to make the 35 mil feel a little better when it foes through. Not convinced Newcastle is the right choice for him, but time will tell.

To take it to it's furthest extreme, if any player has any thoughts of leaving at all would you just cancel their contact on the spot and let them go for free? Assuming the answer is no then there is obviously a point on the scale between A and B where its reasonable to let Barnes go. People hoping for a tidy fee just want to see the club manage it's assets sensibly. Being reckless with them is how we ended up getting relegated and in to financial insecurity. Take the emotion out of it. 9

There's a big difference between a player who is willing to move if his club wants him to and one who is actively seeking to leave and will throw his toys out of the pram if he doesn't get it. From what I've heard, Barnes would not be unhappy if he stayed and would definitely not do a Fofana if we don't accept Newcastle's offer. 1
