Villa have a strong squad, but basically they should on paper be battling with Spurs & Brighton for 7th, 8th and 9th spot.  I honestly think the other 11 teams fans will all start the season worrying about relegation.

I just read that Leeds have sold or loaned out 8 players for a combined amount of £3.5m....

They cost Leeds £120m :jawdrop:

I thought our transfer policies had been questionable at times but that is absolutely awful.

Makes Rudkin almost look competent.

That's insane. Rodrigo had a buyout clause activated by relegation I believe, which is horrendously low...but the rest? Jesus.

I think they gambled even harder than we did. Clearly offered monster wages, which is why they have sought to get them off their books as soon as possible. But how do they get back up without those players? Seems like a real gamble to me, though it seems that with their new ownership they can probably weather the storm.

I think it's between us and Saints for top spot. Boro would be my third favourites as so far they haven't lost their star players. Coventry lost Gyokeres and I think he was their super star.

It's also possible that some of them might still be having some of their salary paid by leeds...

They had top 3 form since Emery took over.

He's 30, got nothing more to prove at Palace, isn't going to a better Prem club.

Might as well try and win a trophy or two and see the world.

Gala squad would be a right laugh to play in too. They're constantly collecting these crazy names over the last few years.

Just lost Mata, Icardi, Gomis. Just gained Bakambu, Zaniolo, Mertens, Angelino.

How refreshing a player fancies playing CL football in front of a fanatical crowd in one of the world's great cities ...and being well paid for it to the tune of a million a year...as opposed to more Croydon doing the same old same old for an extra million

They do plan to bring some of those loanees back if they're promoted, but that's the hard part.  49ers have plenty of money, but the holdups with the FA approving the sale set them back in the transfer market.  And now Harrison is out a few months injured, so they're pretty screwed unless they make some meaningful additions this window.

Add to Jean-Kevin Augustin saga, Leeds have to pay £40m for a player that doesn't even play for them and now ordered to pay £24.5 in wages to the player. I'd imagine they'll pay less on appeal but this is utterly bonkers on top of everything else highlighted.

Spunking £15m on Piroe seems a bit risky financially.

Are any of those loans with obligations to buy? Even so, that's terrible business. Didn't even know Wober or Aaronson had gone.

At least they've moved them on and saving the wages. We spent £75 million+ on Soumare, Daka, Vestergaard and Praet and appear stuck with them, we can only sell the half decent players and get left with the trash no one wants (well, they probably would if we were willing to accept less like Leeds have done but we seem to prefer paying wages in full and players walking for free instead).

Yeah he's really transformed them, think they were near the bottom when he took over. I fully expect him to be at one of the rich 7 before the end of the season.

I don't think any of them are, but not too sure.

Wöber isn't gone yet, though it's looking likely he's forcing a move.

So this kid, who looks like would be absolutely ideal for us in so many ways, is heading to a team that is essentially no better than our own sister team OHL. Brilliant. I really hope we have a plan. I really hope we weren't banking on Diallo from United, now he has a serious injury.
