Have we nobody else...not even in our academy?

Did we really need to have sold Brunt to Wrexham....he would have been the ideal replacement for JJ.

Throwing in a kid in the Premier league is not and never will be the answer.

If he's low on confident then just put your foot through it. Stop trying to play beyond your ability and costing the team who largely worked hard

It's astonishing - had the ball for what 10 - 15 seconds?

His impact on the team must be exactly the same as Ward. They must just feel so deflated when this absolute mouth breather of a human throws away the hard work week after week

We're this far engrained into this way of playing that's what you do. (Not us per se, football period.)

Common sense out the window, it's not how it's done anymore. Some fans, Managers, Media, the football fraternity would rather you make a mistake like that and 'die trying' than resort to a nasty hoofed long ball.

It’s gotten to the point where him being in the first eleven is like starting the game a goal down.

Ok, I'm gonna try defend the indefensible.....I thought he was trying to do the right thing.

All the defenders plus winks and Bouba and Bilal have clearly been instructed to take an extra touch when deep and be braver. Make the less obvious pass.Risk and reward etc. And to an extent it worked today and v Man City.

He tried not just to clear it out. He looked for a pass, delayed, looked again, delayed looked again. So far so good. Then he fooked up.

Was great when we first got him, but has progressively got worse and worse. He's finished and needs to be taken out the team, just like Ward. If we have no other options, I'd rather play a CB like Okoli in there.

What is wrong with him? I can't believe todays mistake.  His decision making is baffling!  I'm sorry, but he just comes across as being stupid now. His concentration levels are non existent, and any other job would see him sacked. If, as some suggest this is because of past injuries? then move to an easier league (Ryland League I'd suggest) or retire, as he doesn't have what it takes anymore.

Think you are right, but he seems to lack the smarts to play this way with any consistency. I also am not convinced it’s a bad strategy, with the right personnel obviously!!

Was shocked at home many opportunities leading up their 2nd goal he rejected to pass it short, long or whatever, today.

Complete failure of the basics every week. It’s beyond confidence, he’s just thick.  He had more than enough time when he first got the ball to boot it forwards, he does his usual stop and turn then has several more chances to clear it but doesn’t.

Also didn’t help that the option he was so blinkered on reaching, Ayew was standing still.  You could tell from his body shape he was looking to fall over for a foul but the Villa players are just sharper and smarter.

Compare it to the clearance from Matty Cash at the end, boot out no nonsense.

His strength was his overlapping and even underlapping runs when working with Barnes. Managers don't seem to want full backs to do that anymore. He was never good on the ball consistently and was always suspect in defence.

All of our defense  is shocking yet our recruitment team think we need more St's and cm's. We have clearly brainless people running the club!!!!

“We’re losing games, clearly we just need more goals”

Most players get dropped when out of form, giving them a chance to work their way back into contention. We've not had that luxury this season. I've gone from anger to genuine sadness with his decline. The bloke desperately needs time out of the team. A new RB is a must. Cue the inevitable CM signing..
