Tbf we still could be

But no reason that journos/agents have been told we're after a man city keeper, and jumped to Steffen given his loan last year.

Steffen is out for 3 months plus isn't he?

Makes no sense to sign him.

Unless Enzo opts to play Iversen or Ward until Steffen gets back.

If it means Thogden is at the KP next season, then it's a no from me.

Who?

pretty much. One of those annoying youtubers who doesn't know anything about football outside of top 6 but acts like he's the biggest expert the sport has ever known.

Would much rather we go for Trafford than Steffan.

Serious potential to be England number 1 in the future and could be ours for 10 years easily.

My lad watches him and i'm sure he calls Trafford his ' brother'.

Just 100% yes. Said in the Stefan thread I was sad we weren’t after Trafford.

He’ll be England's number one in a few years. Without a doubt.

In the present, assuming when fully fit.

We still have Daniel Iversen (who PNE's player of the season) and Danny Ward (although I don't rate him) assuming Maresca opts to stick with them until Steffen recovers and gets back up to speed.

Oscar pistorius is better with his feet than Daniel Iversen though and Enzo appears to like GKs to play a bit.

Sounds like a knob then. (Thogden, not your lad..)

From Trafford’s point of view, this would make more sense than jumping straight from League 1 to the Premier League.

I haven’t really seen him play so can anyone who has reassure that he’s not like the last keeper that Man City sold after a strong loan in League 1? (Bazunu)!

Prefer Zack Steffen due to his experience and playing a part in getting Middlesbrough into the playoffs.

I think this is a more than fair comment. I feel like there are a few ways we could go:

- Willy Caballero. A cheap short term solution who also played at Man City and is excellent with his feet. Experienced, cheap fee, but lasts one season tops and maybe can't handle 2/3 games a week.

- Zack Steffen. Good age for a GK, experience in the Championship and big leagues. Pretty steady who could do a job from day one.

- James Trafford. Has the highest ceiling but is the least experienced and most raw. I'd expect a few clangers from him.

I prefer James Trafford because I think he has the most potential, and in this season where we have a bit of room for manoeuvre to develop some talents, think it's the perfect time to blood someone like him. Worst case scenario we already have a keeper who is proven in this league, which means there's even more reason to be daring with this position.

Look up Willy at the 2018 WC, it was a worse performance than Ward's disastrous cameo in the last world up.

Trafford is the more interesting signing here imo.

I wouldn't opt for him either, but the Championship isn't the World Cup, and he's proved to be good with his feet.

As I've said, it would be Trafford for me all day long. If you are looking for GK's that are good with their feet and would play in the Championship... the list isn't great. The only other ones I could think of as realistic signings are Lorius Karius who went to be backup at Newcastle, Joel Robles the backup at Leeds or maybe Caoimhin Kelleher at Liverpool. I hate to say it, but I think Danny Ward would probably be on the list for GK's that are supposedly good with their feet that would play in this division! If we were still in the Premier League, I bet we would have gone for Alban Lafont, regardless of who was appointed as manager.

And the thing is to play modern football, distribution with feet and hands is one of the most important skills going. Keeper's like Robert Sanchez, Bernd Leno and David Raya all have a mistake in them... but they have all been signed for a reason, and that's because the rest of what they do beneifts the entire team.

£8m

If this is accurate then this is a no brainer. I thought he go for double that and with a low buy back clause to man city included
