Farke is absolutely shite in the Premier League, like Scott Parker if you get there you replace them or have a gutless relegation season.

Odds suggest that no manager is going to win 3 promotions except Warnock.

Enzo maybe an unknown quantity, perhaps thats a good thing. Its a project that needs time.

I like Farke, but i feel like he'd have just been a status quo-type hire (cue - endless 'whatever you want' replies) - i think it would have just been a 'let's just get in someone safe and hope history repeats itself' - Maresca feels like a long term project, a complete restart.

Gotta be Enzo.

We're going for the shit or bust approach rather than the boring, safe might get you promoted but will definitely get you relegated if you go up approach.

Besides Farke sounds like a posh person saying **** and he also has a really odd voice.

Maresca is the more exciting hire. More chance it could go wrong but more chance he could build a legacy.

I agree it’s more exciting but feels he’s unlikely to build a ‘legacy’. Call me pessimistic but more likely ‘if’ we do well he’ll end up leaving for a ‘bigger’ club pretty sharply as he’s young and will be in demand. If we do cr*p then another bites the dust

I agree, but I think even in 3-4 years you can make a legacy. Look at the "legacies" of both Brendan Rodgers and Nigel Pearson as stark contrasts of good and bad ones.

I’m really liking what i’m seeing from enzo so far and out of the realistic options these were probably the 2 i’d lean towards.

Im still inclined to think that Farke was the safest option around. I think a promoted leeds would be backed far more than norwich and too many people on here ignore just how tough a job managing a team like norwich in the prem would be.

There will probably be people slating edwards when luton get smashed every week as well. They not only have to battle with having the lowest budgets but also the lack of draw the club has overall. Most of our title winning squad got played off the park for 80% of the season when we went up but it’s easy to forget that.

I think all 3 relegated clubs are well placed to return so it’ll be interesting to say the least.

A chosen Championship Manager or left field approach. What odds on City finishing above Leeds in the coming season ?

Both teams did well, a lot better than they might have.  Enzo is more of a gamble but both guys make sense for the clubs that hired them.

Farke tactics would bore us to tears. Got Norwich promoted twice I get it, but I'm not sure some could argue the squad he had at Norwich was better compared to other championship squads. Once promoted both times they were relegated by October.

What a stupid thread(No disrespect to the poster!)

Enzo IS our manager now- No use rabbiting on about other options is it?

Get behind the Italian Stallion.

Don't know about the long term. If he turns out to be anywhere as good as Pep he will soon get offers of bigger clubs. That's how the ball rolls in the real world.

Genuine question, but how many bigger clubs are there these days?

I used to feel the same way, growing up seeing our managers poached by Villa (Little), Wolves (McGhee) & Celtic (MON), but we've won the League and FA Cup and been regulars in Europe since those days - the might of the Premier League means its now us poaching Celtic's manager, so the last time we actually had a manager leave us for a bigger club was back in 2000 - 23 years ago!

In recent history, we have probably been the most attractive club outside the rich 7 (granted, this summer, we have lost one of out best players to Villa, and our big signing is a Wolves cast off) so if Enzo succeeds, we'll be promoted and back to being a mid-table Premier League team and a very attractive landing spot for a manager, and this is where I think Seagrave does help set us apart.

I would think some (but not all) of the rich 7 or one of the Spanish/French/German/Italian giants being the only clubs that would be a big stepping stone up, but those openings don't come up often and are often filled by the same people - it would take some track record from Maresca to start getting into those conversations!

In a sense though, it's win/win - if he turns out great, we'll be promoted and back in the mix in the PL - in which case, apart from the top 6 or abroad, the only moves would be sideways or down.

The thing going for Luton this summer ,there will be a few quality/decent players to scout, who will be happy just to get their chance to break into the PL..

This season I have no PL interest so I will be looking forward & support indirect the 3 promoted teams…Just to upset the PL and pundits blind bias & ignorance to the B.bone clubs that make up the PL…I will love all 3, chase down top 12.With

Bournemouth, Brentford,Brighton,Fulham, improving on their previous season…

Sorry at present It’s impossible for me to have any sympathies for Forest..

Just romantic dreams but why not…

Yes, I see what you mean. Even as a stepping stone if he gets us up and established again then it will be fine with most fans if he then went.

...they were being asked to play in a way, that was different to what they had previously done before!!!

You take a look at the United 5-3, we were playing in a way that held us back, as soon as we decided to go for it, we looked and played like a different team.

You would have thought we would play in that manner for the rest of the season,  but we put the handbrake on again until the last nine games.

The players heads didn't drop, they never felt inferior to the other teams which they came up against, we just did not set up to be ourselves in games.

Farke has experience but not done anything special, Maresca he is unknown and who knows he could turn out great. Gamble for us but exciting still to not go for the usual names

He might not have done anything 'special' but he did get Norwich promoted by winning the Championship. It's pretty good experience to have baring in mind that's what we need.

Enzo is definitely a huge gamble and hopefully one that pays off.

agreed and obviously hindsight proves that these players were good enough. But it really does highlight how big that step up is.  I find it silly how often a club sacks a manager that’s got them promoted. Should be a free pass imo. So rarely does that change keep a club up anyway.

Forests batsh*t owner got one thing right last year… keeping cooper:
