Still don’t think Ndidi is good enough even for the Championship and should be moved on, stat.

Interesting how people see games differently.

I thought Ndidi did pretty well, in an unfamiliar role, and certainly looked sharper and fitter than he has for a while.

For a pre season game learning a new system, I thought it was a decent game, where you could see Enzo's structure taking shape. What have we learnt, Daka cant play out wide, as most of us know, and we've got too many players. Quite liked the 2 academy players.

So strange how people see the game completely different to me. First half there were a lot of green shoots, really impressed how Ricardo and Winks worked together. The inverted fullback is clearly going to be the way we play. The second half was a bit lacklustre, but overall you can see that the players are taking on board what’s expected of them. We’ll only get better the more we play that way, and there’s a few pieces of the jigsaw obviously missing and hopefully over the next few weeks we’ll get a few creative flair players in, but I’m quite positive after that.

 

I suppose if you take that game in isolation you could argue there wasn’t a great deal of entertainment, but if you look at it part of the process and to see what’s to come in the bigger picture I was happy

I despise the vast majority of our fanbase. Thought we looked like we played with an actual plan for the first time in over a year and like how we're trying to play progressive, easy to watch football. I give it 5 minutes of the Coventry game until the old guy behind me is screaming either "get it in" or "stop f**king about with it" 😂

Can see how he wants us to play which after one game is encouraging. Looked classy at times and also our usual brain-dead selves at others. There's a few players that will need moving on as they won't be able to play this brand of football

Quite enjoyed that, thought first half was decent and like what we’re trying to do. Was really impressed with Winks, he looks a really tidy player and looks to be progressive on the ball (appreciate it was only Northampton). Coady was nice n steady as expected, liked Ricky P in the middle too.
 

On the downside (come on, we can’t be overy positive can we …)  thought Castagne was wasteful a number of times in great positions, Vards worries me, was on the shoulder a couple of times and should have ran away in on goal but just don’t think he has it anymore unfortunately and thought Praet was pretty poor (to the point where Wilf genuinely did better than him in an advanced role). If we can get some quality in the attacking midfield positions and this system clicks then it could be a very entertaining season!

Ricardo looks to be staying and had a good game.

 

McAteer had a decent cameo, as did Ndidi.

 

Important minutes for most players and a chance for Enzo to assess what's needed.

Obviously a small sample size but I thought Iversen looked fine on the ball. Certainly more composed than Stolarczyk.

 

Pass of the match was Vesty's ball over the top to put Daka through (he was definitely onside btw) although whether Daka would have finished it is up for debate.

What worries me about this thread is that people expect Enzo to come in, lose quite a few players, sign a few players, install a new system, completely change the culture at the club but they won't even give him 2 pre-season games before moaning about it not working!

 

I can't say I expected much more from some on here but it doesn't make it any less infuriating.
