I know it sounds stupid but aside from the catastrophic mistakes his general performance has been ok.

I think you'll be fighting a losing battle with this argument. He was nothing above average before the mistakes, didn't particularly do anything positive. Add the two mistakes in and it's an absolutely horrific performance that would 100% warrant being hooked at ht, for his own benefit as well as the team.

Generally, I think he's been pretty steady. All of our midfield and back 4 are capable of mistakes, some of which unfortunately cost us. IMO he is the less likely to consistently **** up.

I do question him and Coady's mental resilience and leadership, both of which they were brought in for. I think they're chancers personally rather than warriors who get their team across the line.

He was excellent last season and he ought to be integral to the way we play in the Prem but he was rightly dropped by Cooper for some tepid displays and then came back with a point to prove and looked much better. He's been the pits under Ruud so far IMO.

If you think he has been poor, then let's all pray for the others who have really screwed up so far this season.

Winks wasn't brought in for his mental resilience he was brought in because no other player available to a championship club could control a game like that and dictate play to such an elite standard.

He was ****ing phenomenal last year and has barely had a chance to kick a ball this.

Barely had a chance? He's started 13 out of 20 league games of which we've won none, infact the only win he was involved in was the Southampton come back as a second half sub.

Winks and Coady are decent championship players but premiership wise it’s passed them by. We signed them both based on reputation rather than current ability.

Winks and Coady

I ain't having that. Winks is absolutely leagues above Coady on just about every metric

Coady's peak was around five years ago and even then, his game was no more complex than hitting 70 yard diagonals.

I think Coady was. I don’t think Winks was. I’m a big fan of his. I was when we bought him. I do think we need our other midfielders to “bulldoze and batter” to ensure Winks gets to do what Winks does. He is a premier league player and one of our good ones.

Today was unfortunate, shit conditions. It was going to happen, unfortunately it happened to him. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wednesday he is the star player. Winks is important whether we stay up or go down.

Don’t think we will be keeping players on 90k a week if we go down again with an even tighter threshold to meet this time

It’s not saying a lot comparing Winks with Coady.
That’s your opinion but let me know when Winks has a decent game this season.  Both imo are championship level players. We got both in based on name rather than current productivity. Hope I’m wrong but we’re stuck with 2 players who are past their sell by date.
