I’m sure everyone agrees that we can’t play the same style every game in the Prem. I’m also sure that if Maresca decides to keep Vesty, he’ll have a plan how to utilize him and cover his weaknesses. This is not a discussion about whether Vesty can catch Sterling or Hojlund on the counter - it’s about whether or not a capable manager may use him effectively in the PL. That remains to be seen for us.

I’d give him another year. He needs a partner that can run. Soyuncu and Vestergaard might have worked!

I’d have soyuncu, back, flopped at athletico

He's been brilliant for us and would love to see him stay but at the same time I'm not hung up on it. The prem will be a different beast and his departure will surely see Coady a regular starter with Nelson also getting more games

Has anyone got his stats for 1v1 duals as I’m sure they’ll be very good as he doesn’t seem to get beat very often and makes the tackle.

For challenges against players dribbling, he's at 62.8% success (45th in the league). Decent, but behind Doyle (71.1%), Faes (69.0%) and JJ (64.0%).

Sidenote: didn't expect Doyle's success rate to be so high, and thought JJ would be higher since both Enzo and Rodgers thought he was the best 1-on-1 defender at the club.

Does anyone else think he'll get slaughtered in the Premier League?

If we play him in a Rodgers high line - yes. If we play him in Enzo's system - no, he'll be a massive asset. Especially for counter attacking football.

How did you rate him in the Bournemouth FA Cup game?

First half of the season we sat deeper and defensively let very little slip. We started playing a much higher line later on which coincided with more interesting games and more chances, but conceding more.

No idea right now how Enzo plans to setup, but part of me thinks he will go back to plan a (pardon the pun). Think we compensate with more pace lb and more flair in midfield.

Well, that was a one-off game. I just wonder about his vulnerability in the Premiership with the greater challenges there will be and the far superior opposition from last season.

Sensible to give him a new deal (if we haven’t gone mental) as for the money we have I doubt we could find anyone better to do the job. That said, I hope we find someone with pace to play next to him.

Have people forgotten just how truly awful he was last time we were in the prem?

Give your heads a wobble. He’s not going to suddenly stop getting skinned by strikers, is he. They’ll isolate him and murder him.

Its a difficult one given the season he's had and the importance he has for Enzo. How much would it cost to buy someone to do that very specific role? Prioritising the finances on the left side of the defence and back up.

Didn’t feature season we were relegated. When bought Rodger’s pretty played a high line back 4 which didn’t fit his strengths. Once hung out to dry and came on for short cameos. There was a half decent one to get us into the europa conference semi.

We have to be able to compete with the bottom half of the table. Bournemouth game is a good guage for that.

Wobbly  head fact. Jannik I’m has never been  first choice in a team that got relegated.

Didn't play a single minute in the league last season and the season before he played around the equivalent of just 6 games in th eleague under a manager who seemingly didn't want him straight after buying him

Personally not going to judge him on how he played under Rodgers
