'They speculate that the process would see City hand Vestergaard a year’s salary to get him out of the door now, writing off the second year.'

So PSR would be a full years wage, which isn't walking away for free.

I haven’t seen that only thing I have read is that the contract could be cancelled

Why on earth would we cancel his contract and pay him a years wages.

Such a stupid idea.

Context...?

He’s given him a serious decision to make over his international future as he won’t give him a free pass for much longer. Told him he needs to play for his/a club or he won’t be picked in future.

I would like to think this will get Vestergaard asking / agree to finally move on 🎉

Remember when he missed the World Cup for this reason?

Next years W/Cup will probably be his last hurrah with Denmark I’m thinking he’ll want to be part of that & therefore will need to play a full season to have the chance of going.

I wouldn’t be so sure, it’s a very similar situation to the last World Cup. The only thing that might save us, is if he has a hefty relegation wage drop written into his contract.

We're approaching the point where we're the club he's spent the most time at and made the most appearances for in his career.

How the **** has that happened.

The irrational hate for vesterguard on here is rediculous he's a good player and probably the best CB at the club. He has his flaws but played with a partner that compliments him he is more than capable

Bottom half Championship standard at best with a crap attitude.

His passing and distribution is actually probably top half PL level - It’s just every other aspect of his game is, as you say, lower Championship at best.

Harry Winks is similar - His weaknesses aren’t as pronounced as Vestergaard, but they’re not far off.

Yup, people can't separate personality from performance and be objective

In a low block, he's a PL capable defender. He's shown that for us (Man City, Rennes stick out) on the rare occasions we played a low block. Same with Souttar at Newcastle.

He was clearly a step above most championship defenders even with a high line, the very thing that would expose his flaws. As you say, a good partner and/or system covers that. Footballing wise, in terms of passing and game intelligence, he's wayyyyy above average even at PL level

And yeah, agree there might be debate over his attitude. In some ways though, I kinda like that he calls poor managers out and gets the arseys about not playing.

Would I have handed him three years though?! Not a chance,! Not his fault though that Rudkin did.

He’s definitely not. Souttar is much better and Nelson is better already.

He got what, 14 bookings at Championship level last time. A player getting booked that often shows they are out of their depth and unable to keep up with play fairly.

Sorry I meant the best one that was at the club this season I agree souttar and Nelson are probably better or at least have a higher ceiling.

However I disagree with this narrative that he is a terrible player we look better when he plays compared to when he dosen't

I think you're being unfair in your belief that Vestergaard is singled out for 'irrational hate'.  Speaking personally, I hate all our players equally.
