Some players seem to only sparkle when they're the new kid on the block. Youri was like that.

Almost as though the first year or so when they feel new and important at the club they really thrive but when they're established and other players are the 'new toy' they begin to slump a bit.

He had a point to prove when he first got here. It feels like last season was a bit of a reality check for him and others that they aren't quite good enough for that level.

I still think he looks a threat and will be fine once he gets some confidence back though. Some comments in here well over board again.

Hard to decifer sometimes if hes attempting a skill move, or having a fit.

Even the volunteer first aiders pitch side looked ready to jump into action on a couple of occasions.

Blokes absolutely shit, was exactly the same last time in the championship until he got dropped, at which point he improved temporarily.

The type of player at the moment who needs to continue to feel support from the fanbase. He was disappointing last season as many players were, but he's also still a good player at this level. It's too early at this stage to start writing players off.

He's a confidence player and he looks like he's lost it all.

Everything he is trying is not coming off. Needs to be taken out of the spotlight on Friday. Monga should get his first league start.

I'm a big fan of Stephy, but he's struggling at the moment.

He's not a player who can drag you out of trouble when the team isn't playing well either unfortunately.

I think if the team starts to click and we can move the ball quickly to Stephy in dangerous positions, we'll see a massive improvement from him - If not, he may need to spend a bit of time on the bench and try to have an impact at the end of games.

People saying he's 'absolutely shit' though? Dear me.

Is this a joke or something?

I watched the extended highlights and he was more involved than i originally gave him credit for. With confidence he can be more clinical but some of the play was better than i remembered at the game.

He even contributed to the big chance with a good header to Ayew. But that chance was his moment. Score that and the ground would have gone crazy. He cant let anymore of those slip.

Just needs a goal.

People need to chill out. Jeeezzz, if anyone is indeed, giving him shite, they need to take a look at themselves.

His finishing will come back to him soon.

Can't wait for the net to ripple for him

Sad to see a player his quality so low on confidence. We know his skillset in this division and hopefully he will rediscover this sooner rather than later.

It must be difficult competing for that position with a player 11 years your junior and many believing that you are not the best player - especially after so many years of being the main guy in that position.

Fans need to stick with him. He will be an asset in this division once his confidence returns. Sadly, I can't see this happening as we have a number of brainless idiots - I give it a number of weeks until he is being booed.

Obviously he should have scored. And it's easy now with hindsight to say he could have either dinked it over the keeper, or even taken a touch to go around the keeper's right and then pop it into the empty net. The hardest option is probably to shoot to the keeper's left, but he wanted to open his body up to do so and never got his shape correct - but is it me or is the pass slightly under hit from Ayew (who otherwise did everything else in this move perfectly?)

He's quality in this division and  needs to play his way back into form.

He was more involved against Cov but In our previous games, with Skippmare in midfield so much of our play has gone down the right which could explain why he's low on confidence.

Never really saw what others have seen in him. He strikes me as a decent championship winger. Can be very good in short bursts, but for me, more often than not he makes poor/negative choices on the ball.

He's okay but I'd rather see us play more of Monga.

The way some people talk about his 23/24 season you'd be forgiven for wondering why he's not in the Prem this year after being snapped up for 30m.

if you'd completely ignored last season perhaps. He's comfortably good enough to be a top six winger in this division, proven to not be good enough in the prem. It means that we'd want to replace him if we go up but he's evidently good enough for where we want to be this season

Think it's time him and Monga swapped the role with him coming on for the last 30. We all know how good Stephy can be , but he's the weak link right now with our wide players. I'm not sure if it's a confidence thing, or he just needs a kick up the arse, but he's missing the edge to his game we saw two years ago.

I trust Marti to make the right call... bloody hell, it's been a while since I said that about a Leicester manager! lol

His 2024 in the Championship wasn’t great. 5 goals and an assist in 22 games for the champions wasn’t good enough even as the whole team stumbled.

Besides his initial form he’s never really delivered since. I like him but he has to improve or be dropped quite simply.

Probably not a total coincidence we’re s better second half team when Monga is on for Mavadidi.

Monga started against Charlton

The worst bit about his 1 on 1 miss was that his flick on to get the ball to Ayew was absolutely phenomenal.

If he'd have scored that goal we'd all be in here lauding him. I suppose they're the fine lines when you're out of form.

Going to be covering Mavididi a bit in tomorrow's Tuesday Night Tactics show on Blue Tinted Glasses.

Here are how his stats compare to his last Championship season to this. One thing you have to say is that in terms of the hard yards and defensive aspect of the game, he's doing his part for the team. But overall we see a player that seems devoid of confidence, no longer as willing to get involved, take his man on and have a shot. He was actually much better in all 3 aspects against Coventry... and yet was rightly hauled off by the manager for Monga.

This time round he doesn't have a KDH playing next to him in the attacking phase and I think it's been detrimental to his performances.
