There goes everyone's theory that they were saving this for deadline day when we don't have any other incomings

Isn't it deadline day today?

Wonder how long it is until we’re saying Abdul go back lol

Probably the first misplaced pass when he comes on against Hull for 20 mins.

He looks more Elvis Hammond than Riyad Mahrez to be honest.

Let’s see.

Let us all I hope that he’s better than the Ghanaians and ex Sporting Lisbon players before him.

17 million euros, not pounds. Hope the board are hedging against currency movements, although I suppose it could work in our favour if the pound strengthens against the euro.

I'd be surprised if anyone's mind at senior levels at the club works like that

We'll probably be rotating AFI and Akgun then if there's appearance clauses in both loan contracts. If that's the case it's intelligent business - given our track record though I can see us triggering both obligations and they turn out to be quadriplegic footballers

One goal and one assist in 695 minutes in 9 appearances in the Portugal third tier.
Is that enough to be highly rated?

We highly rate Will Alves, despite him only making two sub appearances for us. In the same way, we only have his development football form to form an opinion of him.

I haven't read the article and someone who has might correct me, but the tweet from the Athletic could be taken to mean that if we get promoted, the price will be 17m euros if we choose to take up the option - i.e. not that it's an option if we don't go up and an obligation if we do.

On paper it's looking like there's an actual plan in place which is a lovely change of pace.

Can't shake the nagging feeling that there's gonna be some mad contractual **** up in there somewhere that undoes all the good work if they turn out to be decent lol

That is a massive option/obligation fee, we must really rate him. I read previously that the mandatory purchase was dependent on appearances + promotion.

Tanner reckons it's just for promotion.

That's very surprising, you'd look to protect the possibility of injury or it just not working out for whatever reason.

As you say, the club must rate him. Looks to me as though they really want him permanently but couldn't afford to buy him as a Championship club.
