Issue is he is under contract to 2027 and on Premier League money, who signs him? Disastrous decision to renew.

He hasn't played all season, and it looked like it. He looked like a headless chicken at times today, but so did many others in the squad. I suspect the poor performance by those around him made his lack of game time stand out even more.

Yeah you could give him a bit of leeway if he had King’s attitude.

Where's the sick emoji?! Disgraceful to mention him in the same breath, even for a hyperbolic comparison

Wow. This is the very worst of this forum. I'm not a fan of his off the field antics and accept he isn't mid table Prem quality but every team needs squad players like Choudhury.

Let's remember he has started against Newcastle away in a make shift midfield having hardly played a minute all season. Yes he wasn't great but it's not reasonable to judge a player on one game. If he'd played 5 on the bounce and played like that I'd get it. He hasn't.

Many on here have short memories. How many blocks of the line last season. Filling in as a RB/Midfielder. Playing as a CB in the cup. Scoring against Newcastle.

I'm delighted we have a squad player like Choudhury because without him we were starting a youth who hasn't even been out to a game with the first team or more likely Coady in midfield.

Choudhury also isn't anything to do with the big issue we have as a team.

Actually, it's the complete opposite. For once most people are in agreement.

The guy is crap. He's clearly been shown to be if questionable moral character as well so how the hell is that what you want in a squad man? He has an arrogance to him and that showed today as ambled around the pitch most of the game.

If we didn't have him, we'd probably have given his squad place to another player? And by the same token, he was a youth team player who got a chance (and I desperately wanted to do well) so wouldn't it be better for us to give that chance to another young player who might be good enough?

You're not wrong to say that it's a bit unfair considering he hadn't played any football but he doesn't have any credit in the bank, and it was just yet another poor performance, without the work rate to back it up.

Do we? Cause as far as I can tell to qualify as a squad player you need to possess at least some form of quality.

He doesn't have any whatsoever. Saying he's a squad player would imply he's capable of delivering 6/10 performances when called upon. He can't even do that, so stop your sanctimonious spiel about how we need more players like him.

He's the very epitome of what's wrong with this squad and, in a bigger sense, this club.

You do not get players like Winks and Ndidi as third or fourth choice unless you are a bigger draw, so you absolutely do get players like Choudury in those third or fourth slots. Maybe some older or younger lads?

He did do  two good things during the match . The first blocking the ball with his face . Fluke . The second walking off the pitch when substituted .

"Walking off when substituted" when we're 3-0 down...?!?

Not sure id be classing that as a good thing, unless we were already in "damage limitation mode" at that stage...?!?

I expect players to walk off slowly when they're substituted if we're 3-0 UP....not when we're 3-0 down.

I meant him just getting of the pitch was a bonus .

If it wasn’t for his hair blocking near certain goals v WBA we’d be watching Championship football this season, probably with docked points and financially f***ed. We were in a rut and that day was last chance saloon to turn it around.

But….

My problem is his wages and contract length in ratio to his ability and what he’s capable of offering.

The arguments here about Skipp being as bad or worse proves the point that extending Hamzas contract was continuing “the known”, you know what you’re getting, you also know his limitations. Buying Skipp is an “unknown” in terms of how he’ll fit, settle, suit our style etc. You can see why they consider the extension but you only offer that length and salary if you feel there will be competition for his signature. It was so inflated and so wasteful in terms of what he brings week in week out to the match day squad that it’s excessive to say the least, a luxury, a favour for being part of decent results in the past and the reason we want decision makers out and the approach that is a significant part of why our ffp is what it is when you’re paying your 24th best player that.

Great post.

The thing that really irks me about Hamza is how he was practically out of the door, on loan at Watford, one year contract extension triggered for what appeared to be us attempting to make a tiny bit of money on him.

Fast forward a very short period of time, yes he had a few good games in the Championship (also a few not so good) yet we decide to offer him a deal mid way through the season….surely a business decision should have been made at the end of the season like it was with Kelechi, Wilf and Jannik etc.

He’s not premier league quality, and he needs to leave to kick start his career….. he needs to find a new home to build something that resembles a career, we should be looking to offload him in January. He was dreadful today, and it’s not really his fault being thrust into the first team like that.

The fact that he’s an academy product means we should sell him asap, whatever we can get, for FFP compliance

Who is going to pay him 50k a week so we're stuck with him.

It really is embarrassing how poorly the Football side of the Club is run since Pearson left.

It staggering how anyone with ANY football knowledge puts him in a premier league squad quite disgusting really, same with Ward, these idiots who hand out contracts should be sacked there football knowledge is pure amateur
