Things can change.

Just look at Vesty.

its not so much on him, who knows what happens if that broken foot never happens but we could have probably spent that money elsewhere in hindsight and simply used Souttar more for the games Coady has played

Nothing negative to pick out from the game so we have to find something to moan about

we've just spent a month talking about how tight money is at the club we bought this player for £7m and no doubt he is on decent wages, its a fair discussion to have, if you want to live in a echo chamber get off the internet

Really doesn't help when we're skint and spent 7.5m on a player we don't play or will never recoup the money....and we worried about FFP aswell

Do wonder if we expected to lose a couple of CB last summer.

Nelson's ahead of him in the pecking order

in the wide positions he absolutely should be, Coady can only really play in the Vestergaard spot

Even on the match thread someone moaning about Coady.  Jesus Christ.

yeah but as @Ric Flair pointed out on BSLB pod last night we've sold 4 players we no longer wanted in 4 years, we simply need to improve that massively

this really is starting to look like a terrible deal, £7m and he doesn't get on in his best role when Vestergaard has to go off, now maybe Enzo felt comfortable and wanted to give Nelson time but you'd think he'd want to see Coady in that role too

I’d argue it speaks volumes of the change in attitude in Vesty, and the quality of Nelson. They’re just better players than Coady in this moment.

Why?

if / when Vestergaard goes we need a CB

Coady is ours and we know he can play in the premier

Nelson is also ours but needs games…so we give him games 🤷‍♂️

I'm not sure Vest had a change in attitude to be fair, it was his ability that was in question in the previous system

To be fair to the club. Vestergaard looked like he was out the exit door and we had no one to play the middle CB role. Coady gets injured just before the season starts and Jannik has a change of heart. Sometimes these things happen.

He's been okay when he's played. The others have just been better, and he couldn't displace Vesty or Wout after he recovered from his initial injury. Is there anymore to it than that?

You can't just sell someone nobody wants or who doesn't want to go. Not that easy.

If he hadn’t got injured at the start of the season Vesty might not have become the starting central CB and kept Coady out the team.

as others have said Vesty was actively being shifted to other clubs meaning we needed an additional CB.

but I guess it’s on trend to whine about ****ing everything these days

that's where clubs networking come in, Souttar for example was at one stage linked with a move to Saudi, but we've overpaid in fees and wages for too long and its bit us in the arse as we struggle to shift players which is why deals like Coady need to be successes, I'm not actually blaming the club for this one, but it is looking like bad business

forums are for discussions if you don't like it don't use them, we are in the shit FFP wise and have been for 2 seasons so deals like this NEED to work after all we've just seen a deal for much less money collapse due to our FFP position so no winning a game of football isn't going to stop people worrying about how the transfer business of the club is being run.

Part of the reason why I've said we should use Coady more is I want this deal to work because it needs to. If Vesty is out for any length of time and Coady isn't picked you can't really deny how bad this deal has turned out to be

Nelson has by far a higher ceiling compared to Coady right now. For all we know, having Coady as a mentor may have pushed Nelson’s game onto another level too.
