Brainless signing along with several others given our position. I know let’s sell Hirst for pennies and bring in someone worse for 8mil said nobody ever. Oh wait…

In an ideal world we can bring a couple of strikers in and loan Cannon out to a championship club. If Vardy does resign he’ll more than likely commit to just one more season, Kel is off and Daka isn’t good enough.

Deary me....you didn't even know who Hirst was when we loaned him to a LEAGUE ONE team whilst we were a PREMIER LEAGUE team. Unbelievable revisionism from you fella!

I think Tom Cannon will develop j to a very good striker.

He has had limited opportunities so far with us. When he has come on, he has looked decent. He strikes the ball well, has a powerful shot and gets the ball in target. He just needs minutes.

If he’s not in the 1st team plans at the moment, loan him to an upper Championship team for a season.

Apart from maybe playing each week, I'm not sure going to a Championship club on loan will necessarily help his development as he's already done that at PNE in 2022/23 season.  It's a difficult one, will he get game time here, is he good enough for the Prem. In the few appearances where he started I though he showed promise. He could be a player that is too good for the Championship, but not quite good enough for the Prem. However, he is still young and he may develop into a decent striker. If Leicester decide he is to be loaned out to a Championship club, I hope it's one where they create plenty of chance. Burnley might be a decent option as Kompany plays a similar style to us (providing he's still there).

I'm getting tired of signing players and then hardly playing them before getting rid.

From what I've seen, Cannon looks decent and we should keep him, but y'know, give some decent minutes on the pitch.

Am I missing something here…why is TC all of sudden dreadful? He’s looked good whenever he’s got on and unless we are planning to bring 2 or more strikers in, I’d keep him over Daka personally.

Don’t think anyone is saying he’s dreadful, but more that it might be a lot to expect a striker with no Premier League experience and a handful of appearances for us this season to step up right away.

For what it’s worth I’d keep him over Daka too, he comes across as a better finisher to me.

Cracking article that.

Selling Cannon to Preston (lazy rumour because he played their on loan) to replace their top scorer who... plays for another team.

Top work all round, even better that some of you accepted the Sammy Szmodics bit lol

Be stupid to sell him now. We've only just signed him and he's shown a lot of potential. He should have had more chances this season. Daka and Iheanacho are the ones who should go.

Vardy is unreliable with his age and injury record. Daka may leave - unless we have a contract offer matching what we paid for him - he's going nowhere.

Even if we sold him for say £5m, we have to spend as much or more to get a replacement in on more wages.

We have a depth issue as it is so selling unnecessarily does us no favours.

Probably be no good for him but we can't replace 2 or 3 strikers in this window so he's going to have to stay as an option I'd imagine.

New striker

Vardy

Cannon

12 goal contributions in 20 games is an OK record. Daka's high press and work rate is something needed in an Enzo system to win the ball back in key positions. Yes, recent months he has been very frustrating, but I do think he is a massive confidence player

I agree with that but his main role is to stick the ball in the net.. has shown he's not consistent enough since he signed.

We need a goal scorer, not a headless chicken

He's a good finisher but the main worry for me is that he doesnt seem to get many chances. Most of his shots seem to be wild attempts without any space to pull them off that end up hitting the first defender, which worked against Huddersfield but isnt a reliable way to create chances for yourself.

Hopefully he can get some coaching from Vardy or Daka because, despite their finishing not being great this season, their movement to find space around the box is excellent and it is the reason that they start over Cannon.

He was also going to be a back up for a back up this season. When he has played, he's looked decent, but the step up to the Premier League may well be too much for him, so at the very least may need to consider a loan for a season, or move on.

Great analysis! I would agree with all of that. He's young and learning the system, so this should be expected. But I do wonder if Enzo fancies him or not, you get the impression there are a few players that were brought in that he didn't have a say in.

I think he could become a good rotation option PL striker but he’s got to develop more and he won’t be able to do so being our 4th striker.

Ideally, we would sell Daka for a decent fee, resign Vardy on reasonable wages, sign a PL quality striker and Cannon as the 3rd striker but I don’t think that’s happening. So loan him out and bring in a loan striker.

I like him. Thought he looked handy last season and should have been given more opportunities. That said, I have a slight nagging doubt that he lacks a yard of pace which might be an issue in the top flight.

You are very wrong. I have known about Hirst for many years. We were interested in him when he was at Wednesday, then he went to leuven on a free so we could avoid the compo. I am no plastic fan mate.

Cannon has a much higher ceiling than Hirst.

Of course. But we are financially in a mess. We did not need to sign cannon.

If we value pressing above actual scoring ability as apparently seems to be the thinking with Daka, we might as well play Hamza as a striker. His press can be better and more physical than Daka’s and he’s got similar finishing ability.🤷🏻‍♂️
