I don't think it's fair to label Ayew alongside Reid. Ayew has looked decent for me. He does a job. That job is never going to be fashionable, but there's no way he gives away the ball as much as the younger players against Forest if he's on. You could see even last night how he can cause defences problems.

Then there's Reid who has genuinely not even made a pass of note.

Hmmmmmm I don't see much difference. Ayew did scuff the winner at Southampton which is an actual contribution that to date we've not had anything from Reid but their overall play is not dissimilar. Ayew gives the ball away a lot, looks unfit, can be brushed off the ball for a bloke who's forte is supposed to be strength.

Their records at PL level aren't wildly different either and Ayew is supposed to be the more cultured striker and Reid a versatile midfielder. Neither are good enough to have warrant being pursued, given experience was not the major requirement we needed this season.

I thought Ayew held the ball up well last night, just needed players around him.

Players like Reid and Ayew who've done a job for their previous club are always a risk regardless of supposed experience at the same level. Reason being is they're limited footballers who struggle to adapt to new surroundings. To an extent we've had such players that have gone elsewhere and been appalling.

It can even happen to players we regard as great servants and talented players. Take Albrighton for example who was extremely mediocre at West Brom a level down.

Signing both Reid and Ayew is just staggering and whilst it's still possibly unfair to write them off, it's not looming pleasant.

You can't put De Cordova-Reid and Ayew in the same bracket.

At least Ayew is good at what he does, albeit not in a very exciting way. Whereas De Cordova-Reid doesn't appear to be a professional football player.

No chance we scouted the likes of Bobby Reid and Ayew they were clearly Cooper’s choices…

In your mind, but we cannot know (Why would we let a new manager we have settled for, just chose random players?)

Do not feel that is fair based on what we have seen of both thus far. Ayew does at least contribute and BDCR does not even get on the pitch without it being a nothing game.

(Realise experienced players is not your thing though)

Ayew hate is a strange one. The price tag was higher than it should be, but he's put out steady performances, got us the 3 points at Southampton, and was not the problem last night. BDCR on the other hand is an absolute waste of squad space - Alves should always be ahead of him in the pecking order, even Monga

Totally agree BDR has offered little and seems a strange one in hindsight. I can see the thought process, free transfer with PL but he’s not been good enough. To lump Ayew in with him is totally unfair. Ayew did well last night, chased lost causes and showed some good hold up play. I think he’s a decent buy from what I’ve seen, given where we are and what we are trying to achieve.

A bit of harsh to describe that winner as a scuff???  I thought it was an excellently taken winner

BCDR has been woeful…. A huge disappointment

It wasn’t well hit. Connection was poor and I think it’s saved more often than not

Dreadful last night, no first touch, weak in the challenge, can’t pass or dribble! He has always been poor though even remembering back to his Bristol City days and the amount of sitters he used to miss! Terrible signing for us up there with Bertrand and Dennis Wise.

Pretty much my thoughts, could see the thought process considering at the time we were looking likely to get a big points deduction and were limited on budget. But he's absolutely useless and I fail to see how any fulham fan could have rated him, but many did.

Might be remembering wrong but I thought he was playing a lot further back for Fulham, even at full back sometimes but definitely a wing back.

Maybe he could solve a wing back issue for us?

He certainly isn't an attacking player anymore.

Hmm doesn't sound like a good option for defending.

The man in question was Bobby De Cordova-Reid who, as per Sofascore, completed zero dribbles, had zero shots on target, won zero aerial or ground duels, lost possession 13 times, had 38 touches, and only completed 72 percent of his passes.

In the pantheon of shite signings he makes Ryan Bertrand look like a shrewd bit of business
