Popular Post Stadt Posted 22 August 2024 Popular Post Posted 22 August 2024 (edited) Even if he’d scored 10 last season it’d be a bad signing at that price and presumably a three year deal. The Bertrand signing should put us off the PL experience (+wage) trap for years. There’s lots of PL experience in the squad already. £30m+ on Skipp and Ayew is just ignorance - we’ve still never signed a first team player directly from South America. Imagine what £33m could get us? In all likelihood he starts fewer than 10 pl games this season and I’d be surprised if he starts more than 25 in total for the club. When/if we go down all of sudden he’s a pretty expensive and ineffectual back up. Edited 22 August 2024 by Stadt 5
Kp1984 Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 Total over reaction on here. We don’t know if this is the main striker they are looking to bring in as they have said they want more attacking options before deadline day. This might just be a rotation option. If we get to end of month and we don’t add another then fair enough but until then I’m not going to cry about it 1
sm1 Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 £8M on a 33yr old forward that doesn't score or assist, but runs around making a nuisance of himself. Lovely stuff Rudkin 1
Unabomber Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 This is truly astonishing. Up to £8m and he’s 33 and doesn’t score or assist. Palace taking the piss out of us. 1

Nothing changes that. If this was a mega cheap option to allow us to strengthen else where I might think different but it turning out to not be that cheap. Overpaying for “prem experience” concerning lot become the Leicester trademark. No wonder we are in financial ruin. I don’t doubt he will add something the money involved is silly.

Unfortunately it’s not our money and we have no say all we can do is back the team and any signing that comes in. Don’t get me wrong if that’s all we add as back up for vardy il be fuming 😡
st albans fox Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 You’ll all be apologising when we get 10m from al ahli next summer ….. 1 3

Popular Post Micky Posted 22 August 2024 Popular Post Posted 22 August 2024 Palace fans know nothing.... Ayew is the perfect player to see a game over the line. A right pain in the arse. I will miss his dogged dedication, and so I fear will the team. Ayew is an experienced head and he is one of the most fouled players in the division for a reason, he is a pest. He is like the glue that holds the squad quality up Whoever comes in also has to be an upgrade on Ayew for it to make sense as from a reliability point of view he has rarely been injured and consistently produced solid 7/10 performances. Reasonably big shoes to fill methinks. 5 1
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 £8 million They've had our pants down slapped our arse and now licking ice cream off our butt cheeks with that deal ffs 1 1
Popular Post ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 22 August 2024 Popular Post Posted 22 August 2024 Utterly embarrassing. Even at a nominal fee it would have been money down the toilet, but Palace have completely had our pants down at this price. Shambolic. 6

Muzzy_no7 Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 8m for 33yo Ayew who offers next to no attacking output while we can’t shift Soumare, Thomas, Ward and still pay half of Souttars wages 4 1

murphy Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 From Soule to Asprilla to Zaha to Jordan bloomin' Ayew. It is a little worrying how we seem to be prioritising the prosaic and the workhorses. I think this is coming from Cooper. Old gits like me will remember Peter Taylor. He prioritised 'strengthening' the squad before strengthening the team. This seems very reminiscent. Where are the game changers, where are the goals? 3 1
grth2004 Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 A singing to try and keep us up and if not good in championship. Palace rate him for great assists and link up play. Beggers can’t be choosers and with our impending doom it’s the best we’re going to get.
Pick Good Name Later Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 If he plays a part in us staying if the PL come the end of the season, quite frankly, I couldn’t give a f**k on his cost, wage, age, perception, lack of goal return, sexy signing or any other doubt. It’ll be worth it. We’re not in a position to build for the future. We have to live in the here and now. This is the reality. We need to get behind this it and trust in the recruitment process. We’re not the club we once were. We’re in an utter dog fight and this is the profile that is most fitting to where we realistically are. 3

You stick to proclaiming Tete as the second coming before he kicked a ball. Too be fair to @Ric Flair he wasn’t wrong, Tete was the 2nd coming ……just turned out it was the 2nd coming of Rachid Ghezzal 😂 1

Reasonably big shoes to fill methinks. All this just backs up the view that he’s committed and gets fouled a lot, might’ve been a decent signing if he was on a free and we didn’t already have BDR to fulfil the defensive winger role? I think people’s main gripes aren’t his dedication, it’s the fact he’s touching 33 and the financials involved when we are already underspending elsewhere due to apparent PSR restrictions 11
DezFox Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 (edited) Some people stating that we have options in different positions now. We are one injury to a 19 year old Argentine away from have absolutely nothing. Literally no AMC. They better deliver some big singings in the next 10 days or we have completely messed this up and I think the Cooper appointment was the start of that. I don’t doubt that Ayew might be useful this year, but we will have him tied down for ages and Palace have absolutely had our pants down, to the point where he is no longer just a cheap squad filler. Personally I think Cooper and Rudkin to blame here. Both clowns in IMO, I hope they prove me wrong. Very very worrying! 😟 Edited 22 August 2024 by DezFox

georgelcfc34 Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 Chuffed with this. Will be perfect foil for fatawu and mavididi running off him
murphy Posted 22 August 2024 Posted 22 August 2024 So, aside from an obligation on Fatawu and a teenage, reserve AM, we have signed a defender, a defensive midfielder and two defensive wingers. Are we aspiring to stay up or just damage limitation?
