Popular Post Mark Posted 7 August 2024 Popular Post Posted 7 August 2024 Last attempt then. This will be largely unmoderated. I won't/can't moderate this type of discussion anymore, it's taken too much time and it's not good for me mentally to read all this stuff. Some of you wish to, so let's try again.. however if it doesn't self regulate, it'll end up being binned again. Contributions must not: Be religious or racial. There are other forums on the Internet suited for exactly this type of discussion, please conduct such discussions on those forums. My view is that we're a football forum and politics divide and cause needless angst that is detrimental to the community. If we find anyone who finds this a bit too much, they become high maintenance and generally not suitable for this forum, we'll revoke their access to this area. Please create a new topics for events, no need for one huge mess of a news topic. General chat for everything else. 11 8
leicsmac Posted 7 August 2024 Posted 7 August 2024 Two observations: - Firstly, thanks for the considerable show of trust in trying this route once more. I for one appreciate it. - Secondly, just for the record, Sci/Tech and CC discussion remain in Gen Chat?

However, I think it's been well mannered enough for the most part so I'd be OK with leaving it where it is, unless you feel it should be moved. 1
David Hankey Posted 7 August 2024 Posted 7 August 2024 I will do my very best to behave. Just like football, politics divide but everyone should be respectful. Thank you, Mark. Commonsense seems to have prevailed.

Daggers Posted 8 August 2024 Posted 8 August 2024 It's a great plan. Forum does need a couple more mods to take the weight off, mind. At least one of them being a woman would be good. 4
HighPeakFox Posted 8 August 2024 Posted 8 August 2024 (edited) A clear plan, giving us responsibility, and letting us know the mental cost to you @Mark - a courageous thing to say and I hope that I and many others can step up. Edited 8 August 2024 by HighPeakFox 2
EastAnglianFox Posted 8 August 2024 Posted 8 August 2024 What's the criteria for being considered as a mod? Spend most of my working days and weekends on here anyway
Wymsey Posted 8 August 2024 Posted 8 August 2024 @Mark, if you feel you an additional moderator - please just mention. Especially with the political arguments that have occurred recently and the new season coming up, it's really much-needed; and we don't expect you, and other present moderators, to try and deal with any report/complaint sent to you etc. Am sure there'd be a few interested in doing it, even if part-time (not me, as it requires a patient person..)..

Posts with intelligence, patience and humour in a balanced and rational manner despite holding opinions I don't agree with Anyone meeting those three requirements ought to send Mark their Internet forum CV and list of hobbies. I also think we should have someone who isn't white. 1

It can become a distraction and the last thing you want is to attempt to moderate this forum 1

urban.spaceman Posted 9 August 2024 Posted 9 August 2024 So should we have an 'also in the news' thread or a more specific UK Parliament type thread? Also, would anyone like a media/entertainment news thread?

leicsmac Posted 10 August 2024 Posted 10 August 2024 I would think to start a thread on the current events in Gaza because quite frankly that whole thing pisses me off something fierce, but I also think that could get very ugly very quickly. What do other folks think?

What do other folks think? I’ve been too depressed to talk about it. I have friends and family who’ve been working intermittently in Palestine and Yemen for a few years.
